Mosaic version of this ! This is my second time doing a mosaic of an artpiece of mine. The first time was for an assignment, and this time I just needed something mindless to do while listening to an audiobook. This is a lot less polished than the first one because I didn't have access to the original program I used, so I just used the lasso tool. I still really like it though! Went for more of a stained glass window vibe this time

It's been centuries since Aban ended the wars between the Mountains and the Desert, centuries since she freed the people of the Forest from being frozen in time, centuries since she united the two Ocean factions. Keele can't believe the world has remembered her for this long, everyone else is forgotten so easily. Keele is even starting to forget Aban. She was their daughter, yes. She did great things, she retired from doing those things, blah blah blah. Everything you'd learn in a rudimentary world history class. But Keele can't remember her, not really. What her face looked like, what her laugh sounded like. Her personality. How did she feel about being the world's hero? Keele knew at some point. They don't know now, and it hurts. They've lost other mortals before, they know they were close to Aban's mother once, though they can't even remember her name. Aban's the first one Keele hasn't forgotten about after the first hundred years after her death. They've gone on so long remembering her, it's scary to think they'll lose her fully one day. Not just her face.

Such a sucker for mortal and immortal relationships. Like yeah your favorite mortal is gonna die some day and you're going to have live without them for eternity and you'll eventually forget what they look like or what they sound like and there's NOTHING you can do about it

Right I just realized I set myself up for something so oc/story rant below the cut

One of the big things about the story I've been writing is that Aban, the protagonist, was 'destined' to become queen of the desert and end the war(s. There were a lot of them) against the mountains. She became queen at eleven, and over the course of about eight years she did succeed. But the thing is. The destiny thing. Her adoptive parent, Keele, is the closest being to the goddesses. They are in direct contact with them, and are the ruler of the basically demigods of the world. And technically speaking, Keele isn't supposed to interact with mortals. Like at all. But because they're them, they befriended so many mortals over the years, including Aban's mother, Allenia. They were Allenia's closest friend. So when Allenia and Aban's other mother, Vexity, decided to go fight in the ongoing war but had a newborn to deal with, the newborn (Aban) was entrusted to Keele. Like okay give your kid to a demigod I guess. But because Aban was now the child of a demigod, that made her the most convenient puppet of the goddesses. The goddesses needed a new queen for the Desert, because for whatever reason they decided to make all of the rulers of the various places eternal. Demidemigods almost. So like basically if Keele hadn't become friends with Allenia, Aban wouldn't have been a convenient puppet. Maybe they would've chosen Vasily (daughter of the Mountain king) instead, which honestly would've been a much better choice because Vasily was rebelling against her father all on her own because she'd witnessed all of the oppression her whole life. But instead all of this responsibility to basically save the world was thrust on a naive little girl because all of her adults failed her. Also like the goddesses could've fixed all of this conflict lickety split but they didn't eant to "meddle in mortal affairs" like shut up
