Hey guys I need your help.
So the theater company I preform with in the summer is doing The Producers this year. I hadn't seen the show, but I got my hands on the movie and watched it. I’m not super excited but ya know this is like the only time I can do theater due to robotics and school. The problem is my parents are super homophobic, and not really on board with my love of acting. Also the show seems kind of sexist and the only female audition song is “When you've got it, Flaunt it!” which is ok for me because I’m (almost) an adult and super comfortable with my body and sexuality. However you can be in this show once you hit seventh grade, and DID I MENTION THAT IS THE ONLY FEMALE AUDITION?!?!?!? It’s really ticking me off because no seventh grader should be singing “audiences really love a g-string” and “show the boys your birthday suit” that's just ewwww.
So I really want to due the show because I act for the production, not just the performance. But I feel like I’m going against everything I stand for and I want my parents to be proud of me and I feel they’ll just get angry (they didn't like Spamalot either) and I don’t know what to do and I've cried over this already a couple times and yeah I don’t know what to do. Any advice?
