Be careful in making vows to the LORD.
Amazed at the story in Judges 11. There was a man named Jephthah, a son of a prostitute. His half-brothers drove him away because of that. When time came that he was called to be a leader to fight against their enemy (Ammonites), he bargained with God. "If You give the Ammonites into my hands, whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be the LORD's, and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering." (Judges 11:30) Jephthah won! "When Jephthah returned to his home in Mizpah, who should come out to meet him but his ONLY DAUGHTER, dancing to the sound of tambourines! She was an only child. Except for her he head neither son nor daughter. When he saw her, he tore his clothes and cried, 'Oh! My daughter! You have made me miserable & wretched, because I have made a vow to the LORD that I cannot break." Lesson: No vow is necessary for God to reveal His power. This leader, chosen by God, chose to bargain with God rather than SIMPLY TRUST Him. He got his victory, but at great price. #Faith --- it's all we need!! It's the only currency of heaven. Faith is what pleases the LORD.
