> Well. It’s relatively safe. You think that because you just watched someone dive right into the riptide. You don’t blame them, it looks calm and blue, the perfect spot for swimming- But they’ll be dragged out to sea.

“~~ Oy!! That’s The Riptide, Get Out Of There! ~~”

> There’s no way they can hear you from here. You watch, maybe they can get out on their own-- Nope. You can see them getting dragged out. You grab your lifeguard board and sprint out across the sand, diving in to go haul the poor troll out.

El sneaking up behind Keirla and wrapping his arms around her to put a big bouquet of flowers in front of her: “Flowers for the starlight if my life.” (He’d give her a kiss on the neck but she’s too tall :3 )

Cooking and Keirla?

Keirla leaned on the counter, resting a large bowl on her hip and stirring the cookie dough inside. Light streamed through the lacy curtains over the window, and birds sung in the trees outside.

Deerre shuffled into the kitchen, squinting at the harsh light.

“Keirla?”

She gave no response and abruptly turned to drop the bowl on the counter. She began balling up dough and plopping it onto a tray without a word.

“Are you okay? It’s...” Deerre squinted at his watch. “Almost three PM...”

“‘M fine.” Keirla grabbed the tray, now covered in balls of dough, and slid it into the oven. She slammed the door shut by mistake as she straightened, causing Deerre to jump.

She sighed, leaning on the counter again.

“Sorry, hun.”

“I-It’s alright, but...Are you actually okay..?”

Keirla rubbed her face with both hands and then kept them there, holding her head.

Deerre didn’t speak, or wait for a response, scooting over and wrapping his natural arm around her waist. He rest his head against her shoulder, and Keirla leaned into him.

“I been worried sick, Deerre. Eldrid’s always gone off on space adventures an’ leavin’ me an’ Vee behind, the hell is-”

She lowered her hands, her voice breaking and her eyes teary.

“The hell is wrong with him? I can’t even imagine how Veekoh must feel.”

Deerre rubbed her arm, trying to be comforting.

“He’ll come around, I’m sure. At least some sort of compromise...”

“I oughta bring it up with him, but I never find the right time...”

“You will.”

Keirla hunched over enough to bury her face in Deerre’s shoulder, wrapping her arms around him.

“...He’s an idiot, and he don’t get no cookies.”

Deerre stifled a laugh, making Keirla crack a tearful smile, and she raised her head to rest her brow against his.

“Ya get as many as you want, though.”
