I hate to see that look on your face. Not for THAT reason!
Keith gloats in front of the naive Homeowner who just Realized him. But the look on her face annoys him - and it's worse when he hears WHY she hates herself even more than expected, for letting him abuse her trust.

Keith stopped, in the middle of his boast, and lowered his eyes to her with a large grin, about to gloat in the shared knowing of how clever he was, how he played her badly, how he was a brilliant manipulator. Expected to find hatred, or admiration ! Or this begrudging acknowledgment of his genius. Perhaps tears, too. After all, she had been keen on trying to get his approval, and praising him for being such a genius, perhaps she’d appreciate the cleverness. Or she’d be depressed he played her feelings. Either way, who cared.
But it was not what he had in front of his eyes. It was something else - that he disliked a LOT.
“... Wait, wait, my dummy,” he said, dropping his arms and approaching the Homeowner, holding her elbow and looking far off to the side, having stepped away from the stairs as to let him passage. The possessive adjective he used right there may have scorched his mouth, but there was something tainting his victory. His smirk fell, slightly. His tall frame loomed over her, yet, she did not even seem to notice this, merely waving at him to leave. “What do you mean by that.”
