Adau Mornyang & Lamou Barthelemi for Mordekai by Ken Borochov by Easton Schirra
A Kid at DragCon
Logan had mixed feelings about DragCon. When he saw some people dressed up, he was mad we hadn’t brought one of his cosplay costumes -- he thinks cons are about cosplay, and he has two outfits, Link and Princess Peach. There was a bit of drama, but he got over it. He also just gets bored if we stop buying him things and stage jewelry is not cheap, y’all. But, he also had fun.
The first person he talked to was BibleGirl, who gave Logan a balloon and chatted way longer than was necessary (thanks, BibleGirl!), mostly about Pokemon. It was really sweet and Logan was very happy to find a fellow Pokefan in the house.
Another Pokemon queen, Phi Phi O’Hara, had posters featuring Phi Phi in Pokemon drag as Pikachu. Logan loved the image and Phi Phi gave him a poster and signed it (thanks, Phi Phi!), and also chatted for way longer than necessary about Pokemon. That was a pretty big moment for Logan, too.
The Jigglypuff cosplayer/queen was nice enough to pose for two pics for us, including one with Logan, who loved the Pokeball corset, and stopped throwing a fit lying down under that table to get the pic. Logan also got a pic with Laganja Estranja (thanks!) and took a photo with the House of Edwards props, shown above.
Oh -- he also got us to buy him a gold link bracelet with rhinestones from Mordekai, and chatted up the jewelry’s desinger, Ken Borochov, for, like, ever. You can see the bracelet in the Phi Phi photo.
We all thought it was interesting that almost everyone assumed he was a girl. Logan doesn’t always correct people when they make that assumption. Yes, he has long hair, which was up for the occasion, and he had a bit of lipgloss on. But his outfit is not particularly boyish or girlish, which is bascially his whole deal. He’s not particulary boyish or girlish, he just is.
