The sci-fi fantasy film Krull was released on July 29, 1983. The film was remembered for the Glaive, the iconic weapon of the hero Colwyn (Ken Marshall). The movie was about a hero and his crew (including early roles for Liam Neeson and Robbie Coltrane), who went on a quest to save the planet Krull's princess Lyssa (Lysette Anthony) from alien invaders holding her at the Black Fortress. The movie was written by Stanford Sherman, who had also written for the Adam West Batman series and such movies as Ice Pirates and The Man Who Wasn't There, and had a score by James Horner. Over time the film would find its audience and reach cult status. On August 23, 2018, with an encore rescreening on August 25, Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett riffed the movie live at the historic Belcourt Theater in Nashville, TN and simulcast across the nation.
