Early Saturday morning, on my way over to my mama’s bakery I saw Professor Lewis. He really seemed like a nice man, so I introduced myself as he was heading to get on his bicycle.
MARCO- “Hello there, sir, is that your bicycle?”
KENDRICK- “Hi there, yes it is. I use it all the time. You could say he is my constant companion. I am Kendrick Lewis and who might you be?”
MARCO- “OH, you are the professor! I am Marco Castro, my mama owns the bakery over there, I was just going over to help her. I clean and help her out on Saturdays, as Miss Phoebe doesn’t work on Saturdays.
KENDRICK- “I see. So you heard of me? How is that? I didn’t think anyone knew me, I haven’t lived here long.”
MARCO- “We haven’t either, but in this town, there is NOTHING that doesn’t go un-noticed! Especially if you are a handsome single professor. I am sure Miss Phoebe has certainly introduced herself. She is your neighbor.”
KENDRICK- “Oh, yes! She most certainly has. Quite talkative.”
MARCO- “Mama says the same thing about her. She doesn’t get a whole lot done at the bakery as she is always talking to customers and looking for a boyfriend, so be careful if you want to remain single.
KENDRICK- “Oh, so the town doesn’t know EVERYTHING about me yet do they?”
MARCO- “Probably not everything, but give them time. But what do you mean?”
KENDRICK- “Well, Miss Phoebe needs to look elsewhere for a boyfriend, as I am, well let’s say she is not my type.”
MARCO- “Oh, you are gay then? My mama is gay. Miss Phoebe is going to be highly disappointed!!!”
KENDRICK- (chuckling) “Yes, I am gay. But, maybe you could break it to Miss Phoebe, I wouldn’t want to hurt her feelings.”
MARCO- “I doubt you could do that. Hurt her feelings that is. She doesn’t listen long enough for that. But, sure I can bring it up in conversation! Maybe she will not be such a bother.
KENDRICK- “So nice to meet you Marco. I will definitely need to stop in at the bakery and tell your mother what a fine son she has.”
MARCO- “Oh, thanks, she knows that already, but it never hurts to hear it from others. Plus she will give you a free pastry for your first visit.”
KENDRICK- “Well then I most certainly shall pay her a visit soon! So what time does my neighbor NOT work there?”
