Sorry for not posting for so long; I got a new job and between that and study I haven't had a whole lot of time to do much else. Currently I've got an exam to study for, however I thought I'd treat myself to a small break.

Life Update #1
Something different here, but I wanted to say thank you to all of my followers! Holy crap! There’s a little over 100 of you! I’m actually amazed that anyone honestly followed this, but I really do appreciate it!
So I’m just past the halfway point of my second semester of university, which is both exciting and pretty terrifying (especially considering how quickly that it’s gone by). I have, if I don’t include the two week break I have coming up and the week off of classes before exam, five-ish more weeks left and then I’ve completed my first year of university.
It constantly surprises me how short the semesters are for uni, but how much stuff they put into the classes in that short amount of space.
I’ve had both my State Championships and Animaga 2016 in the space of two weeks and both were pretty incredibly; although I still haven’t had much luck in getting a part-time or casual job, there just isn’t any around. (Or there are, but they don’t want to hire a 19, almost 20 year old, because apparently I’m too old to pay. Stupid reason.)
Anyway, I’ve got to get through the rest of this week and next because I have a speech to make and public speaking is not my strong point.
WHY I AM DOING THIS
Now I am by no means an expert, and more often than I care to admit I get distracted and procrastinate like it’s an Olympic Sport and I’m the gold medalist. Over the years of schooling, failing and succeeding at different methods of sitting down and studying is something that I feel that I am a definite professional at (shame you don’t get paid). Here are a few things that I have learnt and tested that seem to work for me.
(NOTE : Whilst these may work for me, some of them won’t work for you but the key is trying and testing different methods to see the best options for you. This, by the way, is something that I am still doing and will continue to do as I grow.)
WORK SPACE
I always try and make sure that my work space is clear of anything that I don't need for completing the tasks ahead. This generally also leads to having a clean room; so before I start I do a quick sweep of my room to tidy up or remove any distractions. Once my desk (or space) is clear, and I’ve gathered the things that I actually need to complete the tasks ahead, I’m right to go.
DISTRACTIONS
Speaking of distractions, anything (and I do mean ANYTHING) that could be a potential distraction, I try and move it as far out of my line of sight as possible. Now this doesn’t always work, especially considering my desk is right in between my bookshelves and I can see all of them calling to me. (Read me! Read me!) But limiting the amount of exposure to distractions can help out.
HYDRATION (+ FOOD)
Drinking plenty of water (generally a good thing), but I find that it helps me to concentrate so much better than when I don't have a bottle sitting on my desk.
(Also having a couple of snacks, healthy is better but anything is fine really, on hand also helps I find if you’re going to be sitting down for longer than a few hours. However, I don’t keep my snacks on my desk. In order to get a little movement and make myself stretch a bit, I move the snacks to my shelves to keep them out of the way, also.)
TIDE / POMODORO
I have an app on my phone called Tide; it's basically a different (but free) version of the Pomodoro and I find it amazing! The white noise and various ambience options change depending on the time of day that you are using it, but you can also play your own music in the background of it.
LISTS (+ BULLET JOURNAL)
I make a ton of lists. Before I start, I write down what I have to get done that particular day and try to break down any tasks that are bigger than what one point in a list describes it as.
This is partially why I started my bullet journal. I could make an entire post about the bullet journaling system and how I use it and why I find it so good, but for the moment I’ll just say that I split tasks and break them down in order of how soon things are due and how much work needs to be done in order to get them completed, marking them off as I complete them.
CONCLUSION
These are just a few things that I find helpful, there are a bunch of other things that may work but for me these are the main points.
kenmastudies
I was writing down ‘finish writing notes for tutorial paper’ (which happens to be for Mythology and it’s impact on history) and I managed to write ‘finish writing notes for tutorical’
It’s winter here in Australia and an Ice Cream van just drove past. I’m sitting at my desk, trying to break in a pair of shoes and studying ‘An Historical Homeric Society’ and I literally grab my wallet and sprint out of the house.
(Ice cream. In Winter. In Australia. Is. The. Best. Damn. Thing. Ever.)

I was at the library today studying and I have honestly never felt so uncomfortable at the library ever in my whole life. It could have been because there was three men at the desk area I was sitting at or that one of them smelt heavily of alcohol and cigarette smoke and that another was talking incredibly loudly and leaning into my personal space. Or the fact that I was the only female at this table. But I have never felt so uncomfortable whilst studying in my life.
Don’t forget that I have an studygram! I try to update at least three times a week.
