Danny being a gas attendant that has to fill up the gas for like the majority of Gotham and one day the like batmobile or whatever pulls up bc the batkids stole it to fuckin get batburger or something idk
Danny PRAYS New Jersey, specifically Gotham, never changes.
It's such a strange city to have moved into after spending over a decade in Illinoi's most famous Ghost haunting city. Which, admittedly, sounds like it'd be stranger but it really... isn't.
Not compared to this anyways.
Ya see, the very last thing Danny had EVER expected when taking this night shift gas attendant job was to see actual vigilantes and villains as customers in general.
Honestly, he expected that if anything, they would buy or even just steal the gas they needed discreetly if they REALLY needed their tanks filled. That and for the sake of their wallets since the cars he has seen the past few weeks since starting have been eat gas at ridiculous amounts.
His most favorite interaction up until tonight was when the Penguin had come in the oldest form of fancy car he had ever seen. Mr. Cobblepot had taken one look at Danny's sorry state (blame university) and had practically thrown wads of cash at him while Danny pumped the gas into his car.
It was strangely kind?
Danny didn't use any of the money considering Mr.Cobblepot had very obviously just stolen it from the bank with Two-Face but it was a nice gesture overall.
Either way, Danny has what he likes to think is a very smart and genuine belief that villains and heroes (at least in this city) should buy their gas and have it delivered home.
Especially the vigilantes.
There has to be a use for those Justice League funds somewhere, right???
But then again..
It wouldn't make nights like tonight any fun.
Nights where he's gone from shivering in the cold air of New Jersey during winter despite being inside, to suddenly cracking up like he'd been hit by Joker Gas at the sight of a 80 mph Batmobile on the street blasting Alter Ego by Doechii.
He's almost sure that the car would be pulling into the gas station within the next 30 minutes just based on how it was being driven overall. Nothing about it was like the usual, mostly contained speed the Bat would use.
Not to mention the music choice being a dead give away.
So Danny waited those few minutes, warming up his arms as best as he could by continuously rubbing the cold off. He didn't have to wait very long either, the sleek black car making its way in almost immediately after 10 minutes.
He watched as the car window rolled down slowly before revealing a very calm Black Bat in the drivers seat. She seemed to smirk at his surprise and if he was honest, it made him shiver slightly from a tiny bit of fear.
"Are you planning to stare for the rest of the night at one another or are you planning to actually complete your tasks for the night, Sir?"
The voice broke him out of that fear given trance rather quickly, making him turn to look at the backseat to see who else was inside of the bat mobile. Danny honestly felt all the joy he had grow ten times at the sight.
Inside of the backseat was Robin and Red Robin sort of squished together between what looked and smelled like layers upon layers of Batburger to-go bags. Red Robin was draping himself all over the backseat and was practically squishing Robin against the window nearest to Danny while grinning at his phone.
The only sign RR noticed Danny even being there was the peace sign he threw up in his direction without even looking up from his phone.
Robin continued to scowl at Danny from the back too, which just made Danny choke back a cackle even more. The kid reminded him of a badly scuffed up kitten on a car ride from the vets office.
"Well?" Robin huffed out, puffing his chest in what Danny could only assume to be an attempt at intimidation. "Are you?"
Danny just smiled at the kid and leaned back out of the car to look at the front seats passenger whilst nodding as a response. Spoiler waved at him from the passenger seat once she noticed he had noticed her finally.
Honestly Danny doesn't really get paid enough to care about this for too long. So he does what he does best usually in situations just like this, he minds his business.
He's quick to go over to grab the nozzle to start pumping the gas into the bat mobile and feels all his joy RISE EVEN HIGHER at the sight of a BAT THEMED GAS LID COVER when going to pump.
Overall, this night was shaping off to be pretty great.
And if Danny ended up getting a selfie with the fuckin BAT MOBILE and the BAT CREW to send to Tucker and Sam before it drove like a bat out of hell (ha) from the station blasting more very Un-Batman like music?
That's no ones business but his, the very grainy and shitty gas station security cameras he totally didn't erase for the 4th time that week, and the Batmobile itself with its 4 passengers.
Back with Inmate Danny AU: I think Bane or Killer Croc actually might be accidentally hitting Danny too much since they just want to give Danny some patting (I dunno lol).
I MISSED THIS AU SO MUCH WELCOME BACKKKKKKKK
Okay so the image of that is HILARIOUS because does this means one of two things could be happening.
One, Danny is just letting these big guys practically throw him through the concrete without even thinking twice of their actions being malicious (which fair enough if he's been in their long enough to know the difference) and not even batting an EYE about it.
And while yes it hurts it doesn't hurt to the extent that a normal HUMAN would feel because he is undead and has abnormal levels of strength himself so obviously he also has abnormal levels of protection against larger forces too.
Or two, Danny can't even feel it.
And when I say this I mean like they pat him and Danny goes through the action of getting roughed up and maybe he even gets smacked so hard (on accident) that he goes through the jail floor but even then, Danny feels no pain whatsoever.
I really wanna lean into the whole Danny can't feel it when they pat him because it makes him seem even WEIRDER to the staff at Arkham who are about 300% sure every time Bane or Waylon pats Danny, he should be dead.
Not to mention, I think Danny would just find it funny because it usually happens when he's not in his ghost mode so he just looks even LESS like someone the real scary inmates want to mess with.
That and he fights the DEAD on the daily, that stuff hurts way more then anything Killer Croc or Bane put him through on accident. But that also poses the question of just HOW MUCH pain can he be put through to even know that getting smacked by the 2 biggest guys in the jail would feel like getting pinched by a bug.
Not to mention HOW did he find that out????
Is this guy OKAY??? Like-
When the PhD (Literally the Rogues lmao) gang finds out he can't feel shit in either form though they collectively worry and are also eager to once again, study him for combat uses because ooooooooohh he's even MORE batproof!
AU where Danny who was an inmate of Arkham Asylum when? I know we had a lot of aus where he was a security guard of Arkham but the inmate one is pretty much underrated.
There are two ways I can see this going.
One way is Danny being in jail and treating it like a vacation, where he honest to God doesn't even care he's locked in a building with all the scariest villains inside of it. He's honestly just there for the vibes and he's getting free food out of it.
He also can absolutely leave at ANY time and just chooses not to for the reason of not needing to pay rent in any capacity and can (if this au is one where Jazz is interning at Arkham) keep an eye on Jazz to make sure she was being safe.
Or Danny is in there and it goes in a similar way of that one episode where he was in Ghost Jail. Where he like makes all the other inmates restless enough to stage his own escape.
He would probably plan that better though to make sure none of the people who genuinely didn't deserve to escape, escape. Like Joker.
Danny would probably beat the shit out of Joker his first day in the jail. And he would do so knowing itd probably make him worse than the Joker but he genuinely doesnt even care.
I personally like the first one because Danny just chilling in Jail is so funny compared to the other Rogues and like inmates that are locked in their consistently.
Like imagine lining up the rogues and just seeing this 20 smthing yr old kid in the line up, thats so fuckin funny. What would his crime even be?
I feel like it should be killing Joker only for the sake of the fact that anyone willing to throw it down with Joker and actually MURDER the dude HAS to be seen as like 20% more dangerous then Joker ever was as a living person.
I feel like a lot of people in the DcxDp fanbase dont consider the potential of overshadowing/possession often.
More specifically, Danny having to deal with overshadowing/possession while out of his Phantom form. I wanna imagine that Danny honestly has issues with having it happen to him but also understands where some of these ghosts are coming from when they posess him.
Usually, in those cases, it's a necessity for the fate of the planet or whatever, but it doesn't necessarily make Danny less uncomfortable with his body just being taken over like that.
Not to mention that the only reason any of this is possible is because hes the biggest anomaly of all time, being half dead and half living. To the ghost world, he is LITERALLY the bridge between life and death, making it THAT MUCH EASIER for him to be possessed due to the connection he has being half dead himself.
Being less dead makes it hard for humans to be overshadowed unless they've also had a near death or complete death experience. Brushing with death or beyond brushing makes you more susceptible to overshadowing as a whole, basically.
I like to imagine that when he does get possessed, instead of with thay freakshow episode it instead presents itself like that one scene of Aang being turned into his past life of that one avatar that was on trial, Avatar Kyoshi.
Except its Phantom getting possesed/changed into whoever is overshadowing him entirely.
Where Im inevitably going with this is maybe one day Danny Fenton is running from a mugger at night when he runs into a very specific alleyway where a very specific set of people died.
And maybe this one day, Batman happened to be nearby and was going to visit the area when he stumbled on a teenager, shivering in slight fear and looking worse for wear. And maybe on top of all that Martha and Thomas Wayne have been haunting thay alley way since death and Martha seeing the chance to speak to her son, takes it.
So the one time Bruce and Danny do meet, Bruce almost jolts out of his skin when the kid suddenly obtains the ability to look and sound like his dead mother and oh my god it IS her she is literally lecturing him about being a vigilante??!!
But yeah.
Basically, overshadowing working like sort of "let's change into whoever is possessing me!" And when the ghost releases itself, Danny goes back to normal
Also I think itd be cool if Danny as Phantom, wants to he can just like hold out his hands at any point and make the ghost in whatever room theyre become visible to the human eye and have the ability to speak with the living but it ends up sounding like those ghost boxes from those supernatural ghost shows.
Imagine it like that scene from Lilo & Stitch where Stitch has his finger on the record player and opens his mouth to release the sound from the Elvis vinyl lmao
Inmate Danny AU: The DC villains meets a new inmate with ghost powers...
When the Arkham rogues find out Danny has ghost like powers they would have mixed reactions.
And they would be worse because Danny never even told any of the rogues he regularly hangs out with that he was a meta in hiding until he had to use his powers one day in self defense during an inmate riot.
On one hand, they could ABSOLUTELY use this to their advantage when it comes to destroying or taking over Gotham. Danny has it all in the terms of villain like powers, intangibility, invisibility, UNKILLABLE??
Bro is a WALKING unit and doesn't even care to let people know or care himself. He just walks around like he isn't an absolute force of power.
On the other hand, he's so odd that it just makes them NOT wanna touch that shit with a 10 foot pole. Like he just, acts like he's genuinely forgotten that he isn't undead/undying sometimes and its unnerving. It makes the more scientist side of the rogues wanna study him like a bug under a cup.
They just kinda are concerned for him, as his genuine kinda friends kinda neighbors, but also poking and prodding how to recreate these powers for themselves.
It was already a game of cat and mouse between them on who gets to keep Danny around them for their evil schemes due to his chaotic problem solving but now with the ghost powers, he's accidentally attracted the even worse rogues who didn't have any real interest in his existence until then. People like Penguin and Rupert Thorne
This doesn't help the staff either who now have to keep an even BIGGER eye on the freak scientist kid who turns out is a meta who could escape at any moment and AGAIN just chooses not to?? He's so fuckin weird and every guard that interacts with him genuinely hates having to do it lmaooo
Bane once tried to force him through blackmail/physical harm to use his ghost powers for his own escape and Danny just grinned at him eerily before he was suddenly absorbed into Banes body.
When Danny came back out, Bane took one look and started screeching before backing away and locking himself into one of the empty cells. Nobody even knows fully what happened and Bane refused to talk about it.
Needless to say, nobody fucking tries to make Danny do anything after that and just try to convince him to join their causes instead through bribes.
So I'm pretty sure at this point everyone knows about the Anger Management ( Jason Todd x Jasmine Fenton) trope fics where Jazz either ran away with Danny to Gotham or is raising a de-aged Danny in Gotham that eventually somehow leads to Jason like showing up and dating Jazz.
Those fics are VERY fun. I like them alot and they're usually very silly!
But I've never actually seen the reversal of this trope and I think it'd be super interesting if done right. And when Im talking about reversal I mean Jason being the one to raise a child.
More specifically Im thinking about a fresh out of the League Of Assassins Jason Todd that had his original goal of ruining Bruce's life and also killing the Joker but it all goes out of wack the second he gets stuck raising his kid brother Damian instead.
I think it'd be HILARIOUS to see Jason in the area Jazz usually is in these fics. Where he like has this murder toddler to raise that very obviously has issues and he also has issues but it's probably fine so long as he focuses on his brother and nothing else because Jason will be DAMNED if Bruce gets to "raise another child soldier" through Damian etc etc-
Then you just insert like Jazz coming into their lives after living in Gotham for like a year or 3. Id like to think she's been there a hefty amount of time but nothing CRAZY. Just enough time you'd think a transplant would need to get mostly used to a city and how it works.
The only thing Im not too sure of in this sceneario would be where exactly the duo meets since in most of these fics Jason meets them (jazz & Danny) as Red Hood first and I mean you could still do that in this case too since I doubt raising Damian would put a real hinder in his plans of REVENGE CRIME LORD Lmao but still.
I just think it'd be interesting if Jazz showed up as like Damians fuckin part-time school counselor or maybe she just like helps out at the library part time as a volunteer and they meet their when Damian needs what Jason calls "Human interaction time" or something.
Im not too sure really.
I think the only thing that'd TRULY change (and this is the funny part) is that Damian would probably NOT want Jason and Jazz together. In more of these anger management fics Danny mostly just wants Jazz happy and is fine with Jasons existence/wants him to stay around too. But I think it'd be INDEFINETLY more funny if in this case Damian literally would rather fuckin DIE then let his brother get into a relationship.
It's not even an issue of jealousy of attention. Damian is just a fuckin hater and would probably not want Jazz around under the pretense of her distracting Jason from "the mission" that is Red Hood.
Unless its toddler! Damian. In that case Id think Damian is just a bully toddler lol. Idk just a thought
Inmate Danny AU: Does Danny feels really awkward around those orange jumpsuits?
I feel like Danny wouldn't feel as awkward as he should be, and it'd be concerning to the people who know he didn't do anything but would reinforce the idea he COULD do something in the future.
He's been surrounded by the evil scientist trope his entire life, so he wouldn't exactly be fazed by these other people acting the same way his parents did about ghosts.
If anything, he'd have more respect for the rogues that have like a gimick with science and such rather than someone like Oswald Copplepot, whose whole gimick is being a mobster. He'd probably also befriend the more scientists like ones like Ivy or Freeze or even Harley, depending on how far along into recovery from Joker she is.
It doesn't help that the inmates themselves are also convinced he isn't as crazy as he should be to even be in jail with them. But they flock around him because he is kinda weird and, at the very least, entertaining bc of that.
He's like that annoying little brother who wants to know what you're doing all the time to the Gotham Rogues. He'll also probably correct a flaw in your plan to get the Batman if you show him it lmao
Danny has had each of these pranks semi-planned out since before he and Jazz were even invited to move into the manor.
Pranking came as a second nature to him, something to pass the time and fuel his need to be a menace of a little brother. It was a right of passage to be pranked by a Fenton at some point.
They were great prankers. It was a genuine fact.
He had been pranked by Jazz and Danny had pranked back just as hard as she had when he was ready for it.
So as a new little brother to 5 older brothers and 1 more elder sister, he had to show them his skills.
Tim had an addiction to caffeinated drinks that was going on for longer than Danny was even alive (not including when he half died the first time).
---
Danny's first victim was Tim.
Danny was almost sure that multiple people had attempted to get him to quit the addiction and it had never really stuck.
So he decided to take a shot at helping out Tim's future health by sticking every single Zesti soda and coffee filled drink onto the entryway ceiling. Including the coffee maker itself.
It took him almost the whole night to get done, using his flight to reach the ceiling and bat approved super glue to get them to stick. Danny made sure it wasn't anything that couldn't be removed though, knowing Alfred wouldn't really appreciate the sentiment of glue stuck onto the ceiling forever.
He had to get help from Cass to sneak the sodas away from Tim's personal mini fridge he hid in the room but other than that he figures he did pretty well.
The only reason Danny even knew it worked was hearing Tim thunder like running and a loud screech at 7 am when he realized his energy drinks were missing from the main fridge.
He won't even try to deny that he couldn't hold back any cackles when he heard Tim's louder screech, "HOW THE FUCK DID THEY GET UP THERE!?" 10 seconds after the first one.
---
Danny went after Jason next.
After Tim's screeching fit, Danny decided to be a lot nicer for Jason's prank and just provide some changes in his clothes!
It started slowly.
Just changing out and swapping at least one set of Jason's clothes for a larger size until he noticed. From there Danny watched as Jason's confusion grew with each set of clothes that somehow managed to get comically larger.
Up until Jason was sinking in his outfits altogether.
Once Jason resolved to buy new outfits, Danny proceeded to switch out those with smaller outfits until he had nothing that even fit. He watched Jason slowly lose interest as the clothes didn't stop changing no matter what.
Danny had assumed he'd be caught at this point, considering they were all detectives, but Jason didn't even seem to notice it was him. Neither did he even bother to give a reaction.
Jason blamed practically everyone else but him. Even Jazz got a couple of suspicious glances from him before she shut that idea down entirely.
Danny won't lie. He felt a bit cheated out of a victory when he wasn't even accused and had no reaction to laugh about. So he decided to go bigger.
The idea for bigger only came after a meeting with Cass and Steph.
"Why don't you just switch out his books, too?" Steph was draped over Cass lap, looking straight at Danny as Cass raked her hands through Steph's hair.
"Replace them all with printed Justice League fanfic or some kind of trashy romance novel."
Danny had nodded along and gotten to work almost directly after that.
Jason's genuine screams of horror and rage directly after pulling out what he assumed was his copy of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn but was actually just a Green Lantern x Batman fanfic hidden under the cover made Danny's entire week.
Dick was given the worst prank of the 5 of his new brothers.
---
Danny decided to use psychological warfare against him for the sole purpose of Dick having pissed off Danny earlier in the week. Dick had eaten the very last of Danny's specially saved and HIDDEN ghost tarts, made specifically by Sam for him.
And since Sam rarely sent treats over to Danny anymore, it was safe to say Danny was pissed when he saw Dick in the cabinet swallowing the very last baked good from her guiltily.
This was never the original prank he had planned but it was the one Dick Grayson deserved.
Danny was sure of it, somewhere deep down in his ghostly bones.
A hidden Bluetooth speaker was what Danny had eventually come up with when it came down to the prank. It took a lot of bargaining with Barbara to make something small enough to be hidden on Dick's person without him noticing, but it was entirely worth it.
All he had to do was help out at the Clocktower for the next few patrols!
Danny had a small suspicion it was only easy to get Barbara's help because she was also a bit pissed at Dick for a separate reason but he honestly didn't really care.
The hidden bluetooth speaker was attached to the back of Dick's phone case, nothing glued but just sticky enough to not fall off under any circumstances.
Danny spent the next 3 to 4 days playing tiny bits of The Song That Never Ends until he was sure Dick was searching for a way to turn it off. Every time he looked for the speaker that played it, Danny would play it for even longer.
He even made sure to time the times he played it for Dick just well enough that nobody else was around to hear the song either. It would only ever play when he was alone in a room. To drive the idea of his own insanity.
The same night that Danny had went to the Clocktower to help Babs, they also got to watch Dick slowly lose his mind both on patrol and in his own room thanks to Babs hacking abilities.
It was a personal win watching him scream while shoving popcorn into his own mouth.
---
Danny had been relatively kindest to Duke then any of his other brothers.
Mostly since Duke was one of his favorites of all of the others, being the only one to understand that insanity that it was to live with rich people (beyond Jason, Steph, Babs, and his sister).
Duke had just gotten his license a bit before Jazz and Danny had first moved in and he loved his beat up car with all it's beat up bits and bobs. Danny knew this because Duke tended to brag a tiny bit about being able to drive while Danny was a year short to the practical test train.
So Danny had decided that for Duke's prank, after all the bragging he had done about fixing up his old car, he would be receiving a brand new horn!
That played every single sound except for a car horn.
It had honestly been his easiest prank yet, something annoying but not entirely harmful either. He had to have help from Steph again to switch out the car horn with a soundboard without doing any real damage to the horn but it worked like a charm after.
Danny will never forget the face Duke made when he honked the horn during rush hour in Gotham, right after he had picked him and Jazz up from school for the day, only hearing a loud quack noise instead of a typical car horn.
He almost sputtered every time he heard whatever new noise came out as he pushed on his horn button.
---
Damian Wayne-Al Ghul was secretly a clean freak that liked to use bath bombs during his long baths.
And as Danny's last victim he decided to use that to his advantage. He also wouldn't dare go after the girls, they had been helping him so they were spared this one time.
Also Babs was way better at pranking then him, he was almost sure of it after she helped him with planning and executing Dicks prank.
This last prank was relatively easy to execute so he didn't ask for any help from anyone but that didn't stop the girls from trying their best to help anyways.
It took around 2 days to get done but soon enough, each and every single one of Damian's new Bath Bombs were filled inside with a different kind of temporary body paint that didn't wash away very quickly with just water.
The idea had been Danny's idea from the beginning but Jazz had actually been the one to suggest the paint bomb that had ended up getting Damian in the end. A UV light paint bomb that made Damian glow in the dark while under a UV light.
"I mean, it makes the most sense." Jazz had told him while the 5 of them (him and the girls) had filled up the last of Damian's bath bomb basket up with the replacement paint bombs.
"The Cave has UV lights so he would see the change immediately, and they don't distract from him being on patrol since it's UV activated. Safe and smart"
Danny had agreed wholeheartedly while Cass and Steph giggled at the idea of Damian glowing in the dark temporarily, so he had added the bath bomb to the set.
And by pure chance, Danny had actually been there the night Damian discovered he glowed a greenish-white color. He had watched as Damian angrily stomped his entire way down from the Bat Computer towards him and his other brothers looking ready to kill them all.
"Which one of you cretin did this to me."
That had made Jason burst into laughter at the sight of Damian which then made Tim, Duke, and Danny laugh as well. Dick was the only one who didn't immediately burst into laughter, looking absolutely lost at his other younger brother.
Danny had sat back and watched, amused, as the chaos of the boys went from laughing at Damian to full on fighting and blaming each other for the pranks they had each received the past week and a half.
He laughed even harder when Bruce came down to lecture the boys about their fighting as well.
Ah Fentons.
They were great pranksters, it was just a genuine fact.
