I try to say something nice about everything I read. But if my inbox is getting full and I’m way behind… I’ll skip reviewing those that have never replied…
Interesting @kershawk. I can understand why you would prioritize that way, especially if you have already reviewed them once.
i realized just a bit ago that as hard as it might be for us to reply to reviews (time, internet availability, I HAvE TO WRITE THE NEXT CHAPTER AND WHICH DO YOU WANT, A CHAPTER OR A REplY???) sometimes readers assume ego where there isn’t any. It’s not them and it’s not us; it’s the combination of the two that make us think people are expecting reviews. And for all the posts I’ve seen floating around about readers thinking that authors think readers are creepy for leaving reviews, the only weapon we have as authors is review replies.
The easiest and best way to make sure everyone feels valued is to reply to reviewers. Plus ... friends! Conversations! New perspectives!
