Day two of the girls’ visit to Switzerland, so we decided to do a day trip to the Lauterbrunnen area to see one of Switzerland’s most breathtaking spots. Unfortunately the low-lying clouds that brought a constant dose of rain blocked the view of some of the Alp’s tallest peaks, which was quite a shame. (Although a glimpse of the peaks appeared for like five seconds at the beginning before disappearing for the rest of the day.) We started the day in Grindelwald, where we walked through the town, enjoying both the classic alpine mountain houses and all the touristy stuff.
Then we moved over to Lauterbrunnen to at least see the big waterfall and the cliffs, which were thankfully still visible. We were already quite wet from the rain, so we went all the way under the waterfall (which I previously did not know was possible, but there was a path carved right into the cliff-side.) Then we spent few minutes looking for the “instagram spot” that my friend Amber sent me a photo of a few days prior, We mostly looked for it to make her jealous/ angry and we succeeded by copying the photo she sent thanks to Karman’s modelling skills.
The last stop took us up to Wengen, which overlooks Lauterbrunnen from the top of the cliffs.Since this was right at the same level as the clouds, it was quite fun watching the clouds float in-and-out of the valley, and at one point creating a scene, where it looked like the waterfall was coming right out of the clouds! Finally, we also got to see some cute sheep. Usually I’d be pretty jealous of the views the sheep get to enjoy on a daily basis, but on this cold and rainy day, I did not mind going home a bit earlier.
