L E G E N D 2020 continues to take more light from this world, y’all. Our brotha from anotha #RonaldBell (aka #KhalisBayyan) passed on today. They all hurt but this one will sting a little longer since we have been blessed in our lives to work with this legend many, many times over the past 25 years. Certain artists touch you in a way that make you want to continually work with them. Be it their personality, professionalism or a tireless work ethic some are just built different. Khalis/Ronald checked all the boxes and then some. Khalis was beyond iconic in the music industry from his pitch perfect songwriting, absolutely killer sax playing and a complete command of a stage during live performances. All of this, of course, was done as co-founder of legendary R&B power group @koolandthegang. Alongside younger brother, Robert “Kool” Bell, they built a sound that was at once wholly original while also incorporating bits from the Jazz, Funk, Soul, Pop and Motown influences they grew up on. When you truly listen to the 23 albums of magic they released over a four decade run you can hear every one of them. There isn’t a single person that hasn’t been touched by the soul-filled music these guys blessed us with. As the Summer 2020 Madness continues we encourage you to take a minute to breathe and give yourself a moment for Celebration in honor of Khalis & the Gang.
