Chinese Temple on a khlong in Bangkok, Thailand. I love how crazy busy the facades of these temples are, lots of color too! #southeastasia #asia #khlong #river #travelphotography #travel #©lauraquick #bangkok #chinese #temple #colorful https://www.instagram.com/p/BvrZlpRnyOr/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1i23ytd8hv1aa

because I wish I managed to take more pictures of the life on the canals
- Khlong Saen Saep Express, 25022017
seriously, while it took us around 15 minutes to get to Phanfa Leelard from Asoke Pier, I didn’t have much time to be clicking the shutter..
for the first part of the ride, I was busy hanging on to the rope so that I won’t fall…
and for the second part (where we get to sit when we changed to other boat at Partunam) , I was busy handling the filmsy-splash-protector thingy…
this ride that cost 14 baht gave me a glimpse of life on the canal..
some walls are covered with eye-catching street-art..
some houses are beautifully decorated with bougainvillea flowers..
and on some parts, there are fairly run-down wooden house…
you can see people fishing here and there,
sipping coffee without a care,
sleeping on hammocks tied to the tree,
or in their wooden house watching TV.
in my view, the canals have so much potential to be grander than what seemingly feel like an oversized, smelly drain..
but looking at the life surrounding the Khlong (what the Thais called the canal), I guess it would be hard to make changes with the livelihood of so many people involved.

Life Along The River looked a lot like this when I was in Bangkok in the 80s, and is nearly gone now. Still has a certain charm for me, Thailand. #southeastasia #asia #khlong #river #travelphotography #travel #©lauraquick #lifestyle #changibg #bangkok https://www.instagram.com/p/BvrWetRnx_X/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=j5n7id7ex8o7
