I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Chum Mey, only one of two remaining survivors out of 20,000 prisoners of Tuol Sleng (S-21) Prison that were killed. It's never easy coming back here--to see the barbaric torture and feel the visceral pain of a past that's still too fresh in my memory, but my hope is that in baring our collective scars, the world can avoid allowing such an atrocity from happening again. #neverforget #khmerrougegenocide (at Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum)
