I had a great time on my guide trip with Terry yesterday. His goal was to gain a bit of confidence with a few techniques that were new to him. I’d definitely say the day was a success! Still in a bit of shock from having the best week ever. Last weekend was the TN State Championship on Lake Chickamauga, I won that tournament. I then drove 11 hours straight to Wisconsin to fish the KBF Trail Series Championship. I also won that tournament, but most importantly became the KBF National Anger of the Year! Between the two tournaments I won around $20,000. I really want to thank @steve_owens_0207 and @kayakbassfishing for being awesome tournament directors and providing the opportunity for us anglers to compete! Virginia did not disappoint! Had an unforgettable trip camping out with @dcampbell4405 and @justinlucasbass! We had to work hard to catch the better sized fish, because of drought conditions over the past 6 weeks, but at the end of the trip we started to figure things out. This is definitely the best time of the year to camp out and enjoy the outdoors. Well the Hobie tournament didn’t go so great, ended up finishing 17th out of 82. Still had a great time out there though! Hopefully I can turn this little slump I’m in around at the state championship in a couple weeks out on Lake Chickamauga. This past weekend we wrapped up the KBF Southeast Regional Series. This championship tournament was open to 3 lakes: Wheeler, Wilson, and Pickwick, all which are located in northern Alabama. I had a really tough few days of prefishing, but found a little something while fishing submerged grass on Lake Pickwick the afternoon before the tournament. Both tournaments days I found a few different wolf packs of 30-40 fish. Fishing a chatterbait and big 10” worm, I would catch a few fish from a wolf pack, then they would wise up and I would have to travel about a 1/2 mile to the next spot. I had a rotation of 4 spots I was fishing throughout the day. By the end of the tournament I managed an 8th place finish out of 52 anglers. I ended up falling just a little short of winning the Angler of the Year title. Big congrats to Cody Milton for having an amazing season and capturing the AOY title, he is a great guy and it was well deserved. Also want to congratulate Kristine Fischer for winning her 3rd big tournament this year. What she has accomplished this year is nothing short of amazing! Great day out on the Harper River with Dave! The water was still a bit high and a little muddy, but they were biting. Most the fish came on crankbaits, but just about everything we threw got at least a couple. We even had a few bonus catfish and a big carp, Dave’s 3.5 lb smallmouthwas definitely the top catch of the day!
