We're committed to inspire transformation through faith shared in words and actions. This calls us for active involvement in the major sectors of the community that drive change and shape destinies. Kathama Primary School is our local primary school that serves about five villages spanning to about 20km. We are partnering with them to not only disciple students but also see improvement in academics and extra curriculum activities, and physical structures. At the moment the School has about 400 students with less than 10 teachers. Grades 2 & 3 go to school in the afternoon because of teachers and classroom shortage. There are only two pitlatrines that serve almost two hundred girls. The boys use the bush to help themselves! Teachers "know better" where they go, as the Headteacher responded once to an inquiry by a visitor. I'm however glad that the Rotary Clubs of Malindi and Nairobi North are working with us - the community - to build a toilet with a few more doors to ease the current challenge; with plans to build a fully functional one in the near future. Academically the school is trying... Last KCPE, four students got over 300 marks out of the possible 500. And am also glad that we're working in partnership with a like-minded mission organization and some individuals to see 10 students join and finish high school.
