if i was gonna watch an andrei tarkovsky movie what should i start with

hmmm. probably “solaris“. there’s like a 19-minute long take of just driving footage that pretty much if you find that entrancing and meditative, you’ll be on tarkovsky’s wavelength and if you think “jesus christ it’s 19 minutes of driving”, well. also it has a great story and beautiful sequences and music.
