is he too late for a smooch
FIRST THREE IN MY INBOX GET KISSES3/3
The sun was gentle this morning, bringing light into the room, but staying neatly hidden behind sheer curtains to keep out the glare. It was a blessing, Emmeryn thought, as she rolled over, still half-asleep. She smiled lazily and moved closer to the large figure at her side, easily finding his forehead to touch her own to, despite her eyes being shut.
“Mm. What time is it?” Frederick muttered.
“Doesn’t matter,” Emmeryn yawned back, bringing up one hand to pat his bare back-- a bit of reassurance that he didn’t have to get up for patrols today. Nor would he for the next week and change. “No armor, no training, remember?”
He sighed, slipping an arm over her hips. “Easier said than done, Your Gr--”
She pinched his shoulder. “Frederick.”
A small sigh, and a rare moment of bemused smirking. He chuckled to himself. “Right... no more titles.”
Emmeryn’s eyes opened with a sleepy smile, their green all the more vibrant in the morning light. They shone like sunlight through tree leaves. “Only one title matters now.”
His own eyes turned to half-lidded. It was a treasure to see him this lax. Emmeryn wondered if he could keep it up for the entirety of their honeymoon, or if this would be the only moment she would ever have to see Sir Frederick the Wary so calm.
He pulled her closer, and Emmeryn giggled lightly as she came to drape herself and her mass of messy curls over him. She leaned down to press her lips to his, lingering there as long as she liked-- no one could say it was improprietous to kiss one’s spouse, after all.
“My wife,” he murmured gruffly.
“My husband~”
