Happy to announce that I am finally beginning to post my comic 'Gawaine's Green Knight'!

I wasn't quite planning to upload it this soon but all the work I've been doing on backgrounds recently has had me improving enough that I'm starting to feel tempted to redo some of the earlier pages (Which will inevitably lead to an endless cycle of perfectionism that will result in the project never getting finished.) So I figured why not start posting it whilst I'm still happy with it!

The plan is to upload 2 pages every week until we reach the end of the prologue and then do the same for each chapter as I finish them. Naturally because I have a day job, a portfolio to work on and industry jobs to apply for it's going to be a slow process, but I hope you'll join me for the journey anyway.

They had an heir named King Lot of Orkney, whose wife was King Arthur’s sister, a beautiful and pleasant young woman with whom he had four sons, one of whom was named Gawain, who was a good and valiant knight, but too lustful. And the second, who was not a good knight and whose name was Agravain, was overly proud. The third was named Guerrehet, a very good knight who was valiant and brave and who underwent great travails as long as he lived. But in the end he died basely by the hand of Bors of Gaunes or Lancelot. The fourth was named Gaheriet. A good, valiant, and loyal knight, he was without doubt esteemed as the best of his four brothers; he was worth no less than Sir Gawain, whatever the Chronicles of Great Britain may say. And may all those who have heard of Mordred and think he was King Lot’s son know that he was not; without a doubt he was King Arthur’s son.

If Arthur and Morgause copulating had become public news what would actually be the consequences?

Oh, it depends individually but, in general, it's a huge disgrace to Arthur and Morgause (and Mordred). Incest is a sin against ecclesiastical law and extremely taboo.

For Arthur, as a male king, the worst he's getting is a strict tongue-lashing from the church and a mandated penance. However, his personal honor is now severely harmed to both his allies and enemies' eyes. Being a cuckold was already a humiliating status in Medieval culture (to the point that most would rather keep it a secret for the King's sake). But being caught with incest? At least with Lancelot and Guinevere, Arthur couldn't be faulted for being deceived. Royal incest would strike most as a gross degenerate act and Arthur's prestige would take a nosedive. Arthur's enemies and rivals will now use this shame as ammunition while Arthur's own barons are going to respect him less for this.

Morgause, on the other hand, has it much worse. Like Arthur, Morgause is looking at the tarnishing of her own public reputation, but since she's usually already married to King Lot when the fornication happens, Morgause is also guilty of adultery too. Lot will not take this well. In Medieval History, adulterous women were (on paper, at least) penalized with corrective incarceration to a convent and given various punishments such as public humiliation and flogging. However, Incest would likely drive the severity of the crime and its punishment to a graver extreme. I wouldn't be surprised if Lot gave Morgause the "Guinevere special" without a second thought.

Finally, there's Mordred. Assuming that Mordred was already born or Morgause wasn't given the "Guinevere special", Mordred's future prospects are not looking good. Bastardy is already a handicap, having less rights and privileges than a legit child and facing stigma. The status as a product of incest means everyone treats him like a pariah and an abomination. He's more likely to get killed or backstabbed by a fellow knight than be seen as contender to Arthur's throne. Worse, if he was an infant when the beans were spilled, he could have potentially been left to die by exposure.

Overall, very nasty consequences for Arthur, Morgause and their child if their affair became public knowledge.
