Crookedassembly has updated her MAGNIFICENT story "The King's Consort."
It is one of the best "original works" out there on AO3 in my humble opinion.

King's Consort: RP with Dousethelightsofbelief
Tiny chimes ring with every movement. It’s annoying as all get out, but he’s already torn so many of the damn things off of his robe that the dirt floor is covered in bits of golden bells. He’s resisting the urge to stamp them into the dirt, but only just barely.
It’s ceremonial. Or so said one of the bright spirits that had torn away his sweater and jeans to make way for the diaphanous clothing he’s wearing now. As much as he’d favored the garments, the dark fabrics and rough textures had hardly suited the Last Light.
By the moon, Jamie wishes they’d stop calling him that. He’s been hearing that title from every single otherworldly creature and spirit he’s met since he was ten. And for the boy who believed there had been a hell of a lot.
Slyphs in the wind dancing through the trees, dragons in the storm roaring thunderously to all who listened. Brownies in the cupboards and gremlins in machines.(Leaving them honey and wine had done wonders to turn up missing items and kept his computer bug free.)
He’s seen so much and yet, here he was trapped and in trouble. Jamie should have known better. He should have turned the messengers away instead of accepting the birthday gifts, and letters and the proposals that are sitting in a mess in the truck at the foot of his bed.
Week’s worth of trinkets and baubles were stuffed away and forgotten.
All but one
He doesn’t want to look at it.
He can’t bring himself to acknowledge the blue stone lying amid the stomped and dirty bells. The silver chain is broken; Jamie had torn it from his neck when he’d realized what he’d done.
But it was already too late.
The magic tied to the gift had spirited Jamie from his room and left him gasping on wet sand. From then it had all been a blur. What a fool he was.
An accepted betrothal gift, worn over the heart.
And with that the Last Light was to be bound to another forever. His waterlogged attendants had assured him he’d love being married. Their King was quite handsome, a wonderful catch. and Jamie probably wouldn’t miss any of his limbs once they were eaten.
He could hear the seductive songs echoing through the halls up to the tower, but he refuse to be impressed. No matter how lovely the voice of this King Jamie wasn’t about to let anyone devour him, husband or not.
Enthusiastic praise for "I was glad"!
The first ravishing reviews are in! Sara Mohr-Pietsch on BBC 3, praises "I was glad" as “a brilliant new disc from the King’s Consort… It’s thrilling stuff”!
