Even under deep cover, the higher powers at Kingsman had always insisted upon providing its agents with the luxury to which they were accustomed, the sort of which their forefathers sustained even as their sons were brought home in coffins. There was a cruel irony to it all, Harry thought, that public servants should reap the bulk of care when those they provided for were deprived it. Nevertheless, Harry reasoned that Eggsy must have been the exception that proved the rule. Thus, even with Kingsman in shambles and having to be rebuilt from the ground up, it seemed antithetical to provide Eggsy with anything else.
Of course, it was that much easier for Harry to spoil Eggsy when the missions themselves were this illustrious. In the morning, they would attend a United Nations meeting in the guise of personal assistants to the British prime minister with the intention of intercepting plans to sell world government secrets to the highest bidder. Signals would be tracked, their sources followed, and culprits would be apprehended. That night, however, the mission seemed far away. They had a suite at the Grand Hôtel du Palais Royal paid for by the British government, an early dinner behind them, and a bathtub more akin to a luxury heated pool than anything else ahead of them.
“Eggsy,” Harry murmured, laying a hand upon Eggsy’s shoulder, “it would be a shame not to give that bathtub a try before our stay is over. What do you say? Shall I run you a bath?”
