WE DON’T KNOW HOW WE DID IT, BUT WE’RE SO INCREDIBLY EXCITED AND PROUD TO HAVE HIT 1K FOLLOWERS WITHIN ONE YEAR OF STARTING THIS ACCOUNT!

We started writing Jar of Dirt about halfway through March last year, so to have reached the hearts of such a big number of people in such a short time span means a lot to us! So hey! Face reveal! This is us; Kim and Lien! In a very purposefully badly edited photo of us together since we are still in a pandemic and can’t spend much time together (urg).

As a thank you, we have expanded the Ti Amo-verse and will be uploading something very interesting and brand new TOMORROW! Keep your peepers peeled, people!

Quentin Beck / Mysterio and the E.D.I.T.H. glasses. A Small Essay.

So, I’ve probably discussed this privately with some of you before. But there’s this one scene in Far From Home that I think is... Rather underappreciated. It does, in fact, get lots of attention, but not at all for the point I’m going to make. Alright *cracks knuckles* let’s get started.

This is the scene I’m talking about:

So we’ve all seen the movie. We all know what’s about to happen. I’m not going to talk about that. Instead I want to solely focus on this particular scene. So, Peter and Beck have just seemingly destroyed the fire elemental. Peter saw Beck falling to the ground, saw yet another bunch of violence and anger and destruction, so as calm as Peter seems- his body is probably still trying to process everything that happened. Could explain why somehow, he managed to lose E.D.I.T.H. on the floor.

I think we can all agree that Peter looks pretty ridiculous in Tony’s glasses. 

It’s not that it looks bad, but they simply... Don’t quite fit him. It doesn’t match his face. (And he isn’t really owning them yet but that’s another discussion I won’t talk about here XD).

We get to Beck’s masterful play of trying to refuse wearing the glasses - ah, what an actor - BUT HERE’S WHERE IT GETS INTRIGUING. Peter has only ever known these glasses to be Tony’s glasses, right? RIGHT? So therefore, he believes they’re made and fit for his former mentor. 

Yet, we know that Beck is the one who invented them. 

When Beck actually puts the glasses on (I highly advice you to actually watch the clip instead of the GIFS here), there’s this... Very short but very clear moment where you can literally see the pieces fit together. Everything settles and falls into place. The glasses were made by and for Beck. They’re not actually Tony’s glasses. They’re his.

They fit him. It looks natural, confident, powerful. There’s nothing odd about Beck wearing the glasses. And I think that this is why Peter has this unconscious moment where his brain just... sees this. And accepts it as true. That is why he is so easily deceived into giving Beck E.D.I.T.H. Not because he wants to give away Tony’s glasses, but because he knows they’re not made for him and Beck wears them like a fucking pro so surely he’s the one who should have them?

It’s obvious Beck manipulates Peter throughout the entire movie, but for this particular scene, he didn’t even have to try. All he had to do was to reunite with his own invention and let the universe do its work. E.D.I.T.H. has always belonged to Beck, and the man knows it.

i love love loooove bouncy castle! will there be a sequel??

I-- I never really received a lot of feedback on this one so I never really thought about writing a sequel before! I'll definitely put it on my ideas list! Hiya, thank you so much for the ask! (Based on this post). So my first struggle was to figure out which music player to use but I figured it out ehehe. I skipped all the non-English songs, there are too many in my playlist that even I can’t understand. So the song that came up was:

Lion Of Love - Erik Mjönes

I’m a little embarrassed about this because it comes from the new Eurovision movie, which I actually enjoyed a whole lot. But let’s not dive too deep into that ehe. It’s not a very deep or poetic song, but the lyrics I like most are:

Thousands tried to tame me, but I roam free Until I saw you and you saw me

Why? Well, the character who sings this song is a queer Russian and in the movie, there are quite a number of hints that he (although he has a love interest) he will always have to hide who he is because of where he lives. So him signing that even though he may be experiencing oppression, at least he is free when he is with his love interest. And that shit has me A A A A A.

I definitely recommend everything by @jeranasblog. It's filthy and so so so good omg 👀👀 I'm afraid I don't have time to make a full masterlist, but I want to encourage everyone to help out and share your fav fics in the reactions!

A a a a a aa a!!! Today marks the exact day Lien and I uploaded our first chapter of the Jar Of Dirt fanfic! We never imagined how well it would take off and how much more we would write together. Y'all have been an amazing support and tonight we'll be shooting a short Q&A video with the questions we've received! We hope to post it asap ❤️
