❥: Fluff
Peko was hardly any self proclaimed “warrior of justice” or the type to draw any sort of attention to herself when it was unnecessary… However, when she noticed a gang of boys attempting to tie a defenseless, stray kitten up to a stick of dynamite she couldn’t really stop herself from intervening. She’d always had a soft spot for such fluffy creatures… and there was no one else around to defend it. While she was laughed and cussed at when she’d first stepped in— in the end, it was a decently simple dilemma to solve. A single step forward accompanied with a menacing, cutthroat glare and a reach to unsheathe her sword was just enough for them to drop the kitten and take off running in the direction of the school.
No… perhaps the true dilemma, now, was that in a frightened frenzy— the kitten sprung itself away when she approached it afterwards, hauling itself with its’ claws across bark and up onto a high branch of a nearby tree. And it was stuck there. Mewling, in need of assistance once again. Considering it, like so many other fluffy, furry creatures, was struck with a shaking mortification upon seeing her… she figured that she wouldn’t be able to coax it out of the tree. While her intentions were clearly genuine, one look in her direction and the poor little kitten was struck with terror.
Peko snatched her lower lip in her teeth to keep herself from huffing, standing beneath the tree and craning her neck upwards to keep an eye on the tiny feline. “Kitty… please come down…” She breathed to herself— stern red eyes softened with some amount of concern. To make matters worse, the clear blue of the sky was muddying with an array of grays and blacks— storm clouds looming in the distance. The kendoka certainly didn’t want to leave the poor thing there… but all of her efforts to bring it down would be denied and end in inevitable failure.
She turned her head to see perhaps, the one and only person she’d ever confided in about the absent “fluffy feeling” in her life when it came to animals thus far. Hinata Hajime. And he was sparing a look in her direction, at the moment— so she quickly moved to approach him. “Hinata… Do you think you could provide me with some assistance?” She paused only briefly before pointing at the tree, “There’s a kitten stuck in that tree and it won’t come down…”
Hinata turned his head around to see who's voice it is that's calling him, seeing as it doesn't happen all that often. He rarely gets to hang with his small circle of friends outside of the school, so hearing his name mentioned sparked his senses. He turned around to see that in fact, that was one of his friends speaking. Peko Pekoyama was a close friend of Hinata, which he was surprised he even got the honor of meeting.
They winded up meeting in the hallways, and made some very small talk. This went on until the two started to spend time together regularly, which was fun. They both confided some information about themselves to eachother, and it was overall a healthy friendship. One of the many things he learned is Pekoyama's love to all things fluffy. It was silly to believe that a fierce and strong woman like her would fall for such cute creatures, but he apperciated it.
Smiling back at her, and looking at the kitten at the tree, he approached her. Getting the kitten out of the tree with combined effort from both of them should be easy.
"Of course I can, Pekoyama. That's what friends are for. How did it even end up there in the first place?"
