Manivannan to be questioned on #KitaLawan rally
KUALA LUMPUR, April 22, 2015:
Kapar Member of Parliament (MP) G. Manivannan became the latest Opposition politician to be called up by the police for investigation with regard to his participation at the #KitaLawan rally in front of the Sogo Shopping Centre, here, on March 28.
Speaking to The Rakyat Post, the PKR lawmaker said that one Assistant Superintendent Khairuddin from the Dang Wangi police station’s criminal investigations department had contacted him on the protest.
“The ASP has requested me to meet him at the police station on Thursday at 4pm. I will be accompanied by my lawyer Sivamalar.”
Uncertain whether he would be detained, Manivannan said that he would provide full cooperation during police questioning.
“However, this will not stop me from fighting against abuse of power and the currently sad status of the country.
“My struggle is still on.”
The #KitaLawan rally, which involves a series of protests held every Saturday in front of the Sogo Shopping Centre and areas such as Jalan Ampang and Dataran Merdeka to protest the incarceration of PKR de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has seen numerous arrests made.
The arrests were made after the initial rallies held on Feb 28 and March 7 were deemed illegal by the police.
On the days before and after the March 28 rally, several people were arrested.
This included political activist Hishamuddin Rais in Kuala Lumpur, PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu in Penang and Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad at his home in Shah Alam for alleged involvement in the rally.

#KItaLawan protest can go on if rally organisers cooperate fully with police, says IGP
KUALA LUMPUR, April 21, 2015:
The #KitaLawan anti-Goods and Services Tax (GST) rally planned for May 1 can go on, as long as the organisers cooperate with the police to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said he had asked for Dang Wangi police chief to contact and communicate with organisers of the rally and hoped that they would cooperate with the police.
“The last gathering they (protesters) had in Padang Merbuk was good and that should serve as an example. So, we’re asking for the organisers of #KitaLawan rally to contact us and let us know of the venue of the protest.
“I hope it’s a location that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) agrees to and if it does, PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) would fully cooperate to ensure the rally goes on on smoothly.
“Otherwise, the organisers have to be prepared to have action taken against them,” said Khalid at a press conference in the Bukit Aman police headquarters here today.
PKR Youth chief strategist Akmal Nasir earlier said that the organisers of #KitaLawan were aiming to get as many as one million people to join in the protest against the newly enforced GST.
In March, a group of over 100 people had gathered in front of the Customs Department in Kelana Jaya to protest against the implementation of the 6% consumption tax.
On the same night, 79 of them were arrested, including Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s (PSM) Sungai Siput Member of Parliament Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj, PSM secretary-general S. Arutchelvan, Kuala Krai MP Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli from PAS, and activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin.

Slogan Sukma 'Kita Lawan' diteliti semula - Azmin
SHAH ALAM, 11 April:

#KitaLawan to join May Day rally
KUALA LUMPUR, April 4, 2015:
PKR Youth strategic co-coordinator Akmal Nasir said that the party’s #KitaLawan secretariat was preparing to join “1 Mei 1 Juta Rakyat” assembly here.
According to him, the # KitaLawan # BatalGST protest would also be held every Saturday in cities across the country until May 1.
“As such, on Saturday, April 11, the city of Johor Baru has been selected as the venue for youths and the people in the south of the country will gather at the City Square starting at 4pm.
“When pressured, we will continue with #KitaLawan.”
He said this at a press conference in conjunction with the launch of the “1 Mei 1 Juta Rakyat” at Selangor Wui Leng Association in Jalan Panggong here.
Akmal said the strength of #KitaLawan lay in the support of groups made up of young people from civil society, political parties, non-governmental organisations, professionals and students as well as their ability and courage to raise national issues on an open platform.
“We understand the right to peaceful assembly, as enshrined in the Constitution of Malaysia.
“Although many youths face a range of pressures and arrests, they have shown strength against tyranny by consistently gathering for seven consecutive weeks from Feb 14 to March 28.
“This assembly focuses on #BebasAnwar and #UndurNajib as well as the seven-day sitting at Dataran Merdeka for #PecatIGP.”
Akmal said the #KitaLawan secretariat would focus all its strength and work with all parties to ensure one million Malaysians come down to Kuala Lumpur to participate in the assembly .
