Nuka Nog
After a few days of SCIENCE, some research, and plenty of experiments, I think I actually came up with a decent recipe to make Nuka-Cola Eggnog.
4 eggs (you only need the yokes)
1 cup granulated sugar
3 cups heavy cream
Freshly grated nutmeg, for serving
1 cup Nuka Syrup.
Dealers' Choice:
1 bottle of alcohol (Whiskey, Bourbon, or Rum.)
Blend egg yokes with granulated sugar until smooth. Once blended add to heavy cream and mix in nutmeg. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until mixture begins to simmer. Simmer until mixture thickens, then remove from stove. Pour Nuka Syrup into batch, and blend slowly. Let set in bowl in ice to cold shock.
If adding alcohol, add to taste during the cold shock phase.
Chill and serve.
Now, this particular recipe is from scratch. I did taste test a premade Eggnog and blended in Nuka Syrup (1 TBS for every cup of liquid), and the results were very pleasant, albeit not as nice as having freshly made, but less headache.
So, try this out and let me know what you think.
Cheers!
My comfort food late in the evening:
Pimientos de Padron with hickory smoked salt.
During work today I passed by a market and picked up the chilies. The salt was bought on holiday to Germany two weeks ago, since I like to visit local herb and spice stores when abroad. The combination of these two things was just perfect as work has been stressful the last week.
Did some baking today for a spring house picnic! It’s absolutely gorgeous today, so we’re taking advantage while it lasts! ☀️
Made some traditional English scones (of which my partner has already eaten three), dill & cheddar scones, and some lemon loaf cake (not shown because it came out...okay? Pretty, but an odd texture that I can’t decide is the fault of the recipe or our ancient oven).
Tried a new raspberry almond scone recipe this morning because I bought an irresponsible amount of raspberries on a sale! They came out quite nice, although next time I’ll give them another minute in the oven to offset the moisture in the berries.
Busy weekend! Felt particularly inspired to do some proper kitchen & garden work. 🍞🌿✨
Made: lavender syrup, peanut butter bread
Planted: garden sage, blue sage, chamomile, English thyme, aloe vera, marjoram, & lemon balm (late in the season, but can’t resist those sales for my aspiring tea garden!)
