caramel apple cupcakes!!! featuring apple cupcakes, caramel buttercream, and garnished with apple mini-wedges and caramel drizzle. because why the hell not???

made with this cupcake recipe and this buttercream recipe, drizzled with the caramel sauce from this recipe (cooked until thick, ~5-7 minutes). very tasty, especially the bites with the fresh apple garnish!

featuring this wonderful white cake recipe (srsly it’s the best), this super easy caramel sauce, a (delicious!) improvised mild cream cheese buttercream, and thin-sliced honeycrisp apples, sprinkled with little edible gold stars (plus there was enough batter left over for a couple of cute li’l cupcakes!)

#apple cake #rustic cake #caramel apple cake #kitchen-witchery #so this was actually pretty tasty???#i mean this white cake recipe really is the best #there's just something about it #it's not boring and dry like a lot of white cake (or overly sweet like some others)#it gets like this verrry lightly caramelized outside thing going #and it's the perfect texture #even if you're like me and you have a bad habit of improvising ingredients bc you either forgot or couldn't be arsed to buy #exactly what the recipe calls for (like buttermilk ha ha nope guess who gonna mix some heavy whip cream & lime juice it meeeee)#i would HIGHLY recommend greasing and flouring the sides of the pan and lining the bottom of it with wax or parchment paper #and sort of loosely covering the top edge in foil for most if not all of the baking time #if you find it's baking on the outside way sooner than the inside reduce the temp a bit (it'll take longer but will bake more evenly)#and for the caramel whisk it verrrry lightly bc too much stirring will make it form sugar crystals which makes it gritty #which may be stuff everybody else already knows but i had to learn a lot of this the hard way lol #also i was so very pleased to finally have something my candymaking squeeze bottle would be good for #yay!#:3 #mbb bakes #AND IMMA BAKE MORE WITH TIFFO IN LIKE #holy shit #TIFFO IMMA SEE YOU TOMORROW!#AHASLDKFJAOIERJ #I CANT WAIT

on the plus side I finished my first-ever official cupcake order (thanks to the assistance of my the incomparable sestra @frolldo) so whooooo

#kitchen-witchery #fluffernutter cupcakes #edible glitter #gumpaste flowers #candy butterflies #chocolate butterflies #mbb bakes #the fluffernutter cupcakes were an experiment on the part of la sestra and myself #we wanted to see what it would taste like #(pretty good)#and the fancy cupcakes on the bottom were made to order for one of my coworkers #for an event outside of work #it was a learning experience #i learned a lot of what not to do lolol #but i picked up some nifty tricks too #like kids #marshmallow fluff is fucking amazing #i am forever keeping a giant tub of it on hand because it's a goddamn miracle worker for buttercream frosting #it makes it light and airy and maintains its structural integrity #and doesn't really impart much flavor as far as i can tell #also i learned how to make gumpaste flowers #...mostly #and now i have a shit ton of tools to use for future endeavors!#tee hee hee :D #also russian piping tips are pretty amazeballs #like...they can be finicky with that ball tip but they also make for some really pretty frosting #but they use a lot of frosting #like a lot a lot #but it's so pretty and frilly!#::happy sigh::
