My baby, prince, has a kitty cold! :(
*sitting on my bed with my cat*
Me: *leans to him* Hi!
Cat: *sneezes on me*
Me: Okay then.
Kitty cold?
Not quite sure how this keeps happening, because all three of my animals are indoors and I do not let them out (nor have they gotten out accidentally).
But, the last few days Helm has been making this occasional sound while trying to breath. Today it's even worse. I can tell he doesn't feel good, either. So, guess it's time to get out the humidifier and keep it near wherever he's resting. Hopefully he won't give it to Boo and/or Nadia.
The vet recommended ephrine nose drops. I found a bottle of it at the pharmacy. Said it's the only thing that won't make cats go nuts when you use it on them. Helm does not like them anyway, and fought me tooth and nail not to have them put in. But, afterwards he did sound much better.
He's still a bit sniffly. But resting in one of his hidey holes. He's also been extra snugly, so I know he's really not feeling good.
I've also been cleaning a lot lately and it's been kicking up dust. So this may just be an allergy thing, too. Guess we'll see when the dust settles. He's just really sensitive to any changes in the atmosphere. Might have asthma, who knows.
FireTruck has a kitty cold, poor little guy keeps sneezing. The last time he got sick in May, I didn't sleep all night because I kept checking on him. I hope he just comes and snuggles with me in bed so I know he is OK. Can't afford to be dragging tomorrow at work, def need to sleep tonight.
:( :( :(
Took my Aunt’s cat, Dottie, to the vet today. She has cat flu. More specifically she has Cat Herpes …Also known as “feline viral rhinotracheitis”, feline herpes (FVR) is an acute upper respiratory disease of cats caused by the feline herpesvirus type 1 or FHV-1.
Poor thing. Her problems began with a nasty yeast infection in her right ear. Apparently she has been carrying the herpes for a while but it was inactive. Having contracting it from a stray kitten taken in from a neighbor; it is highly contagious within cats when out broken. The stress from the infection and also the loneliness of having her owners away on vacation for such a long period of time caused the herpes cold to resurface.
It is a very unfortunate thing to happen upon such an adored cat. ( adored deeply by her owners of course and a general friendly likeness from me.)
Most unfortunate for me (and I’ll admit mildly selfish considering what Dottie is experiencing ) is the fact that she sneezed right into my mouth the previous night upon learning of her illness. Thankfully however it is ONLY contagious between felines. It still irks me indubitably!
When Alex goes to work, the sick little kitty takes naps with the big Tomcat while he waits for his dad's return.
love love love.
