July 24th marked the 75th anniversary of Kitty Kiernan's death, fiancée to Michael Collins and after his death, she later married Lorrha man Major General Felix Cronin.

constance markievicz: irish revolutionary by anne haverty (the best biography on the best lady)

renegades by ann matthews (this is an overview of all the irish republican women from 1880 to 1937)

ireland’s pirate queen by anne chambers (granuaile! pirates! clan warfare! hell yeah!)

in great haste: love letters and correspondence by michael collins and kitty kiernan, compiled by león ó broin (it’s mostly about kitty, and she writes the most, so i count it. it’s also the only book that focuses on her as a person and not just in relation to the men in her life so i really appreciate león ó broin’s work on getting it out to the public)

lady gregory’s toothbrush by colm toíbin (this is a very very short book on the impact of lady gregory’s writing on irish culture)

say nothing by patrick radden keefe (this is some of the best historical writing i’ve ever read, and it goes deep into the psychology of the price sisters)
