Color Club All that Razz and Kleancolor Fuchsia Holo
I wanted to pick up a new pink neon for my toes to savor the rest of the summer while it's still sunny out. I picked up Color Club All That Razz. This was 2 coats and as you can see, there's visible nail line but it's kind of cute. Since it's a neon polish it dries semi matte as well. This was without a top coat, you can see how it looks squishy. In an effort to jazz this up and get through some of my untried polishes, I put a coat of Kleancolors Holo Fuchsia over it. I only posted a close up because it didn't really show well on this color. I think it was too similar to All That Razz. You can see all the gold/honey colored holo chunks in it. It worked well to jazz it up and still look subtle with one coat. I would for sure add like 3 coats of the holo so that it flashes a bit more color. I also think this may show better over a darker color like a deep purple. Adding that combo to my to do list! Also, for anyone who is wondering, you can get Kleancolors online from www.beautyjoint.com for pretty cheap.
China Glaze Rodeo Fanatic and Kleancolor Blue Holo
There is not one thing I did not like about this mani! I started with China Glaze Rodeo Fanatic from the Fall 2008 Rodeo Diva collection. It's a deep shimmery turquoise that is stunning and has peeks of purple at certain angles. This would be great on its own but I did this as a full mani and had some more untried Kleancolors to try out. I added Kleancolor Blue Holo over it. Now this isn't really a holo polish per se, it's a holo glitter in a light blue transparent base. I blurred a picture so you could see the holo fun. I also added a butterfly from my fimo canes as an accent to jazz it up even more. I focused my camera on a different nail from the ring finger so you could see how the holo shows up behind the butterfly, it was really awesome. I wore this as a full mani for 5 days and it didn't stain and had no problems with it. For sure one of my favs with fimo!
Kleancolor: Midnight Seduction
Kleancolor Midnight Seduction is awesome! It’s super micro glitter in a clear base, I enlarged a picture for you to see the micro glitter colors. I can see silver, blue, gold, pink, green.. it’s endless!
This is only 2 coats and it was opaque. I’m not sure that I would put it over anything because it is so spectacular by itself. It reflects a lot of light and isn’t as hard as most glitters to clean up. The one thing I have noticed about Kleancolors glitters and holo glitters is that they are thick.
blurred so you can see the holo fun!
This means it takes a while for them to dry but they are only 1 or 2 coat toppers, which is a great pay off in my opinion. I got mine from BeautyJoint.com and they’re under $2! (you all just left my page to go look at their site huh?);-)
I have many of their layering polishes to show you and I think you will really like the possibilities with them I also started making some jewelry with them, which I’ll have up on my Etsy shop soon. The glitters are awesome!
Flomar: Purple with Kleancolors and Cupcakes
This is a mani I did for my friend who is also into nail polish (shout out to M!). I used Flomar neon purple for a base color. This polish is awesome, it's a one coat polish and purple.. total awesome. I got this polish in a swap from Brazil a while ago. I wanted to jazz up the polish so I used Kleancolor Holo Fuchsia (one coat) over so it flashes blue, purple, pink, orange, green- it's rad! Because my friend loves cupcakes, I stamped a cupcake, topped it with a rhinestone from Born Pretty. But that wasn't enough so I cut a cupcake slice from a fimo stick and put that on. To put the cupcake on, I sliced the fimo cane with a razor, then used nail glue to adhere it to the nail. I did a thick coat of SV over the cupcakes and a normal coat over the other fingers. I really liked the way this mani turned out, feel free to click on the images and get a closer look at the color shift in the Kleancolor top coat. It's always hard to take close pictures of someone else's hands in my light box, but I think you get the idea :-)
Kleanocolor: Chunky holo teal
Recently I put in an order with Beautyjoint.com to get some of the Kleancolor chunky holos and glitters. This one is super pretty but I think I needed a darker color under it.
I started with 2 coats of Orly's Frisky and did two coats of Kleancolors chunky Teal holo. In the light it was hard to see the color shift in the holo, so I played with it in my light box out of direct light and changed the angles of the camera.
You can see t bottle though is full of major squishy pretty holo. I like this mani over all and I wore it for a few days with no problems. I had topped it with Posche for a quick dry time. The holo flashes pink, purple, blue and green, it's quite pretty and makes a somewhat normal creme color interesting.
As far as taking it off, it wasn't too bad. It's not quite as frustrating as a glitter but it is a little more work than a creme or a shimmer/frost. I like these, it's a quick way to update a mani to make it look different to just to add a bit of pop to an otherwise ordinary base. Great top coat effect.
Comparison: Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe and Kleancolors Blue Eyed Girl
So if you keep up on the nail blogs, I am sure you have seen the brand Kleancolors, and of course many know of Deborah Lippmann. Well I have a comparison for you. I was at my friend's house playing with her polishes and I put on Kleancolors Blue Eyed Girl (after about a few minutes of looking at it n the bottle, I ordered it LOL). This was my first encounter with Kleancolors. I never looked into the brand because all the swatches I saw on blogs were their holos, and to be honest, I have all the holos I want at the moment; but I didn't know they had delicious jelly chunky glitters! So this is a close dupe or better, a substitute, for Deobrah Lippman's Across the Universe.
This blue jelly has large hexagonal glitter in teal and blue with small round blue glitter. I did an approximate of 2 coats. I say approximate because putting on chunky glitter is not exactly an easy process and I end up adding glitter in spots that are sparse. I did not use a base color before applying, just a clear base coat to protect my nail from staining. Which, by the way, it did not. The great thing about this polish is that the glitter looks suspended in water! it's so jelly and blue, I love it! The sun reflection on the big glitter through the jelly is massively blingy! There's not a bad thing about this, except the patience required to take off a big glitter polish, but that comes with the territory.
A friend, Jennifer, was kind enough to let me use her pictures of Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe as comparison to Blue Eyed Girl. She has a base coat of China Glaze's Frost Bite, which is a bright blue shimmer polish. You can still see the formula is a great jelly and has similar glitter shape and color. The only differences I can see is that the blue jelly is darker in Across the Universe, more of a navy rather than a true blue. It also may have more of a green hue to the teal hex glitter. I can't compare formulas because I don't actually own the Deborah Lippmann polish but I think if you layer the Kleancolor over a black or deep navy base, it is a nice and cheaper substitute for Across the Universe.
