Hey David! In the possum language, what are the rules for the palatal clusters (lysy nysy syny and so on)? Do they assimilate or what happens to them? Thank you!
Palatlization spreads in only one direction: left to right. This may have been a mistake. It results in contrasting clusters like shty [ʂc] and syty [çc] which may be theoretically possible, but which are monstrously unpractical. There are a number of things we would do differently if we had that one to do over again...
