I'd say mmh... Fahrenheit 451. Or the Pillars of the Earth.
Do you enjoy poetry, and if so is there a particular poet or poem that you prefer?
Not much. I don't read poetry often but I was born in the same town as a famous French poet: Arthur Rimbaud. My favourite poem of him is "Le Dormeur du val" which is about the figure of man that appears to be asleep but is actually a dead soldier. My summary doesn't do it justice, it's really beautiful.
Do you have a short story that you are particularly fond of?
I have one. It's from Alfred de Musset named "On ne badine pas avec l'amour".
Do you have a favourite play?
YES!! "Les Fourberies de Scapin" by Molière. Makes me laugh my ass off everytime. "Tartuffe" is really great too.
Out of novels, poetry, short stories and plays, which type of literature do you prefer and why?
Novels, by far. It's easier for me to be immersed into the story and to attach myself to characters, which is something I can't find in a short story. Plays are studied at school which is why, I suppose, I'm not fond of them except for Molière's.
Which do you like the least, and why?
My least favourite is poetry. I like reading a book from beginning to the end and it's not something you can do with a poetry collection, which frustrates me to no end (it's pretty stupid, I know). I also get bored very fast by poetry and I'm not really moved by it. Not often anyway.
I’m cackling because there’s just so much we can do with these two really
For the ship post again! Bootiful Dootiful/Elliania the Ultimate Badass:
-who cries when someone dies in a movieDutiful. He’s really susceptible to romantic or heroic deaths - the cornier, the better - while Elliania is all about massive fight scenes with Awesome Lady Warriors mowing down hordes of enemies. She cries angry tears whenever potentially rad female characters are delegated to fan-service duty in movies.
-who wears the ugly holiday garbDoots, but only because Elliania somehow talks him into it every single year. She gets a truly savage joy out of seeing her dear husband squirming with embarrassment during Very Serious family holiday dinners; when he became a dad, however, he lost a ton of shame, and now sits at those dinners in all his terribly-garbed glory, with absolutely not a single ounce of humiliation. In fact, his blasé attitude towards it tends to intimidate people. He uses this to his advantage when dealing with the Farseer Co. board of directors during the holidays.
-who pays for the mealsOriginally, Doots wanted to be a lovely gentleman and pay for all of their meals, but this only infuriated Elliania; they both had to figure out a compromise and eventually they ended up alternating who pays. Elliania’s still not entirely happy about it, and Dutiful had to get over the sting of what he assumed was his good manners being ignored, but it worked out in the end. It’s become a silent (but good-natured) feud between them.
-who slams the oven door and who plays the tromboneTheir sons, while Doots laughs at them over his newspaper. Elliania is always away on business meetings whenever this happens, no exceptions. She knows about it, of course, because Doots couldn’t resist showing Peottre a video he took of them at it. “She doesn’t know, of course. Don’t, uh - please don’t tell her,” he’d say nervously, putting his phone away quickly with the sinking feeling that he’d just dug his own grave.
-who brings home stray animalsDutiful. Elliania doesn’t understand why he doesn’t just take them to the vet or a shelter. She’s not unsympathetic, but she has a very pragmatic view of strays; they simply can’t keep them, and if they do, they’ll be neglected, good intentions or not. Between the two of them, they just don’t have the time to look after anything other than Doots’ dog. She has Fitz on speed dial for these situations, thankfully.
-who leaves the bathroom door openElliania. Her husband and sons are constantly having to deal with her doing whatever in the bathroom with the door wide open. They’re all far more embarrassed about it than she ever is.
-who tells the ‘dad jokes’Elliania - what a twist! Doots is actually quite the gracious dad; his jokes are usually clever or sardonic, and usually not terribly embarrassing, and he’s usually quite charming and sincere in public. Elliania, on the other hand, tends to be about as gracious as a hangnail. She tells Dad Jokes like nobody’s business, and nobody is ever certain how to respond to them; they’re always sternly delivered, blank-faced, almost as if she’s challenging them to a duel at sunrise instead of trying to make them laugh. Nobody’s ever sure if they should titter nervously or run and not look back. Bel loves her jokes, of course. Her poor sons don’t have the luxury of pretending they don’t know her when she really gets going.
-who wants kids moreDoots is perfectly content with his boys, and would be delighted if Elliania ever bore again (regardless of the gender of his potential future babies), but Elliania’s passing desperate for a daughter of her own. She loves her sons, of course, but she’s wanted at least one daughter of her own since she was a girl herself.
-who travels moreElliania; she gets terribly homesick and enjoys returning home with her sons to teach them about her culture. Doots does his own share of travelling, but rarely leaves the country.
-who spends more cashThey both spend a lot. Doots is more likely to spend it on gifts or for setting up parties or dinners with business partners (which he doesn’t particularly enjoy), but Elliania is all about security, history, and trips to her home country. They’re both good with money, but being in the position they’re in, neither of them can really get away with not spending a ton from time to time.
-who buys the things in infomercialsDoots always buys anything pet-related, but Elliania has been banned from watching infomercials ever since she bought a giant bubble-wand and managed to weaponise it.
-who draws in the dust on their carsDutiful always leaves cute lil messages for Elliania! Usually silly little things telling her that he loves her, even though he knows how ridiculous she finds it (she’s grown to secretly like them, though - only when it’s Doots)
-who starts the snowball fightsElliania, almost always, though she relishes the challenge when Dutiful initiates a snowball fight. They take them seriously and it’s not uncommon to find them both with a son each, huddled behind hastily-constructed barriers, offering extra pay to bemused clerks and janitors to keep a steady production train of snowballs going for them.
-who throws away the directions to thingsThey’re both too pragmatic to throw away directions; Elliania discards them when she’s done with them, though she prefers to try to put together whatever the Thing is without using them first, while Doots keeps a box in their closet that he carefully keeps the instructions to pretty much everything they own in. He’s never once dipped into it to check them after the fact, but he likes being prepared. Just in case.
-who puts up holiday decorUsually Doots, if he has the time to do so - Elliania tends to favour traditional decor from her country whenever the holidays roll around, and he can’t afford to have any important guests of his thinking his home is a distastefully-decorated weapons room.
-who is more likely to forget to batheNeither of them. They shower together every morning, like clockwork, no matter what. On the other hand, though, neither of them would have any qualms about not bathing for a while if needs be. Doots would probably be a little more put out than Elli would be, but he’d deal.
-who gets more obsessed about thingsElliania. She tends to be very black and white about certain things, and possesses a metric fuck-ton of passion for certain topics like ‘vengeance’ and ‘the ethics of intimidation in business’. Her absolute sense of drive can definitely come off as obsession.
-who sings in the shower more oftenDoots, usually singing Cyndi Lauper songs at something slightly louder than a mumble, thinking that nobody can hear him. Everybody in the house can hear him, but nobody ever says anything and just lets him have his True Colours in peace.
this is so cool !! I’d love to dress in complete attire too one day… but so expensive ;;
Yeah, we learned that a group of riders from there used to do representations, but stopped some years back; that’s why the swords were stored here (without any protection for some, and most blades were in a poor state).
True enough; but seeing some people’s cosplays on here is quite inspiring when it comes to creating costumes of all kinds.
