I just bought this pattern because its a really cool texture and the designer was donating to Doctors without Borders in Gaza and it was only $8 and I really want to like it but I started reading it and trying to figure out what size and what yarn and all that jazz and now I'm so tired.
First, it doesn't have a schematic drawing - I get that not everyone does these but they are SO helpful and this is not the first time in recent history I've bought a pattern that doesn't have a schematic. Not to mention that this is a modular sweater with kind of unusual construction so I think it really needs more guidance for finished measurements.
Anyway, moving on. The pattern has a lot of sizes (awesome!) ranging from toddler size into plus size adults. Its also got a lot of ease so it tops out with a finished chest measurement of over 90 inches. That is fantastic. I refuse to buy anything for adults that doesn't go up to a 60" chest and this goes way past it. But the yarn yardage information is - quote "approximate total yardage is 400-2000 yards" - no other information per size. I cannot. I get that it is intended for scraps, but how much do I need of each yarn? NO CLUE!
All I want is to plan a sweater, to figure out if I can fudge the numbers and make it in handspun or in DK weight (its worsted as written) to know how much I need in yarn scraps to make the whole sweater. And I don't feel like its asking too much to want to know how much yarn I need to make my size.
And if I could still access ravelry I might have been able to learn this stuff about the pattern without having already bought it - maybe I still would have, but I still resent not having good access to consumer reviews.
