Tonight, after 73 sessions, the D&D campaign I’ve been in for four years finally comes to a close. I don’t think I’m ready to say goodbye, but honestly, I don’t think I’d ever be ready. There aren’t words to describe what this game, this world, these characters, and this table have meant to me — my entire life has been changed by playing this campaign in so many ways.
To all my amazing friends, to everyone who has ever been at the Knotaburr table over the years and felt that magic: thank you, I love you.
To all of Team Knotaburr, to the NPC friends we made along the way, to the villains who made our adventures so damned exciting: thank you, I love you.
And to Hazel, my nerd wizard, my brave girl, my greatest PC: thank you, thank you, thank you. I helped you find your new family, and you’ve helped me find one too. I love you.
There’s only one thing left to do, which is play it through and see how this story ends. So in proper Hazel fashion, all I can say is:
“Let’s be fucking legends!”
