uh hey again.

someone kindly pointed out that commissioning fic is a pretty grey area in fandom. personally, coming from a professional freelance world, I didn't think of it that way.

I want to make it clear that I am just trying to survive as a freelance writer, not trying to get anyone in trouble.

Its still Mermay, so that means more mermaids! I rarely draw the more classical mermaids, so I wanted to give it a try with Calatar. You might have seen him previously in his draconic form, but in this AU he’s a merman in love with a girl from the local fishing village. They meet in secret and she reads to him, while he tells her daring tales of his life underwater. Some of his stories miiiight be a bit exaggerated, but Iva endulges him c:

This is the first time you’re introduced to Calatar’s romantic partner, Iva. In the original setting she’s also a village girl, but from the cold mountains rather than the sunny seaside. You’ll see more of her soon enough, I hope you look forward to it!

We’re Grieving, Batman! || Opening Comms

I don't know how much everything is going to cost, I just want to help...

The first thing is first... Grambo passed away. Roughly a month ago she was diagnosed with a cancerous lump in her lung. We were told she wouldn't survive the surgery so they were going to try other options... options we never got to try. She struggled with pneumonia, then aspiration pneumonia, and 3 days ago we got told she had covid. Just one thing on top of another. We're heartbroken.

She is survived by her son and grandchild (Uncle Don and my partner, respectively) who now have to struggle to put the pieces together. I'm doing what I can to help. I found out about direct cremation (she didn't want a service or anything, she wanted to go peacefully) and they're both labeled as her beneficiaries on everything.

Thing is, we're all poor. We may be able to scrape together for the cremation but we don't know how much everything is going to cost as well as now we have to clear out her apartment. We're going to at least need fuel costs and a truck to get furniture out of her rented apartment.

So I'm opening up commissions again, I'm so sorry that everything is taking so slowly... I'm working slowly and trying to comfort a grieving family while grieving myself.
