Here Comes the Sun | Kolella
Trying to surprise a vampire turned out to be a lot more complicated than Ella had originally suspected. Figured maybe she’d just show up someplace, wrap Kol up in a hug, and that’d be that. But in reality… well, things took a lot more planning.
Had to leave the island without much prior notice, simply telling everyone she was headed back home so no messages could be sent back heralding her arrival. As soon as the plane landed and a car took her back to her apartment in Oxford, Ella wasted no time slipping into one of her fancy dresses, throwing up her hair and stalking out towards Fangtopia. Luckily for her, having Kol as your best friend that you sometimes slept with had multiple perks, including the bouncer at the back of the club letting her in with nothing more than a muttered “Welcome back Miss Ella” and a stony expression.
And, to be honest, stepping back into the club really did feel like finally coming home. The pulsating lights, the warmth from the bodies packing the dance floor, the sticky smell of TruBlood permeating the air… Ella hadn’t realized how much she missed all of this until now.
"Focus, Ella." She murmured to herself, taking off her heels and silently padding through the back hallways as she hoped to God above that Kol hadn’t moved from his usual spot on high. Not that he usually did, but who knew how her luck would run. Maybe he’d found a new toy to play with that night that required his attentions elsewhere. Or completely possible that Vera had shown up as well, splitting the Viking King’s attentions.
But fate seemed to have thrown Ella a single bone as she caught sight of the alabaster statue that was her closest friend in the world lounging in his throne, seeming bored out of his mind. A bright smile crossed her lips at the sight of him, heart seeming to expand a little. She’d missed this, she’d missed Kol. Yes, maybe she’d needed those months out on the island to recover from her illness, but it had been lonely there by herself with only her dog Victor for company.
Silently Ella climbed the back stairs, creeping up behind Kol’s throne before gently placing her hands over his eyes and pressing a kiss to his cheek. “I’d give you three guesses as to who it is, but I have this strange feeling that you’d get in in one.” She whispered teasingly in his ear, unable to help the small giggle that poured out of her. “Though I sincerely hope you missed me just as much as I missed you.”
