Journal Entry for July 13, 2017
We’re now down to the last full day of my OJT! WOOOOH! Relieved and feeling comfortable now, I feel more secured knowing that I am 5 hours away from completing my Main Library duties. All of that I‘ve sacrificed including my sleeping were really worth it. Some of my mentors, well, might be shitty but trust me, I’ve had worse than what they did to me. Too bad I have to leave some of the areas that I wish I will never leave, ISaIS, Records Section of the UARD, Indexing and Serials Section. Those sections inspired me that there is more to being just a mediocre librarian, that we are more than just those catalogers and those sloppy stereotypes of librarianship. We are more than just a librarian, we are stewards of information. Upon spending my 150 hours with them, I also realized the importance of camaraderie, a value that is slowly dissipating inside a workplace. Probably because people compete harder now because of money, some of them are eager to pull other down to boost themselves up, some are keen on spreading lies and gossips about a certain individual to paint his/her image bad during the evaluation. Very unthinkable. Too bad some of the section heads and people here in the Main Lib are doing that. Very disappointing, indeed but we can’t do something about it, it’s the way they are, and certainly I am in no position to ask them to change because I don’t even have a degree yet. Nevertheless, I will change it. I will assure myself that there is a hope inside a workplace that features no camaraderie, I will make sure that every people is committed to a single goal, to serve and to bring out the best in each other. See you again journal for the Final Entry!
