Music Video Review: Korduroy “Keep it Movin’”
Killer rhythms, jumping horns, and the struggle of motion.
Korduroy was formed from friends’ jamming in each other’s homes, and "Keep it Movin’” has the energy and passion of a fresh act. But its tight harmonies and frenetic drive reveal a band that’s already broken some teeth on the musical grind.
The lyrics examine the struggle of a creative mind on overdrive. “Got this rhythm pounding in my brain... gotta keep movin’... I don’t know if I’ll ever reach my goal... even as my feet begin to bleed... gotta keep movin’...” The band captures the message through their music; in the push of the drums, the dissonance of the horns, the pulsing of the bass and the frenetic guitars. Controlled chaos at its finest.
Soul, latin, hip-hop, jazz and funk all reverberate through their sound. That’s the beautiful thing; how in a band of fifteen, fifteen different musical lives can congeal into something all of it’s own.
The music video is a classic setup, showing Korduroy doing their thing in the studio. Leaves me wanting to hear the band on stage - where everyone cuts loose and the energy flow is intoxicating. They’ve got something going on, and it’s going to be great to see where they go.
Friends making infectious music. You gotta love it.
Their EP is out, and I’ve heard they’re dangerously good live.
