Devotional Acts for Persephone
Offerings can be easy to come by, but what about something a little more grandiose to show Persephone love? That's where devotional acts come in. While the line tends to blur between offerings, devotional acts, and worship; I feel that they are worthy of their own separate posts. I'll touch more on worship in the future, but if you're looking for offering ideas be sure to check out my previous post.
General Devotional Acts:
Make a playlist filled with songs that remind you of her. This makes it easier to incorporate her into your day-to-day when life gets hectic.
When making/receiving a meal that reminds you of her, take a moment to say a small prayer of thanks & give a little thought and energy to her.
Write a poem in honor of Persephone. This doesn’t have to be in over-the-top celebration of her; just write what you feel.
Celebrate the equinoxes with her, as she moves from the Earth to Hades and back. This is a good way to connect with her and support her on her journey!
Even just researching her myths and correspondences can be devotional! Don’t overthink it, whatever feels right to you is just fine.
Devotional Acts Specific to Persephone:
Do spirit work! This is a great way to bond over her domain as Queen of the Underworld!
Discuss your past-lives (if you believe in them) with her! I don’t personally do spirit work, so I find this to be a good balance between my practice and her domain to connect with.
If you have dogs, spend time with them! Persephone is a dog mom herself, after all. If you want to go big with this, try taking them with you to the park or out on a hike like I mentioned above!
In the spirit of the suggestion above, volunteer at a local animal shelter!
Devotional Acts Specific to Kore:
Spend time out in nature! This doesn’t always have to be a big hike, or a trip out to the forest/lake. Simply going to a nearby park or even just enjoying a cup of coffee on the porch is more than enough.
Plant a garden! We tend to focus on Persephone’s role of Queen of the Underworld, but she too is the Goddess of the Spring! Taking care of a garden (or a few houseplants, if you live in a more urban area) is a great way to feel connected with her.
Donate to a local food drive! In honor of the famine that occurred during her first trip to Hades, support your community by donating cans/dried goods/etc. Another good option is to volunteer at a local soup kitchen!
Of course, both lists that are dedicated to her two different roles are totally applicable as general devotional acts for her! I personally like to change my offerings/devotional acts/worship through the seasons, so I wanted to separate them just in case you do too!
This post first went live on my Patreon. To have access to all of my personal posts about worship, spells, and general magic, consider becoming a patron! I currently have a goal on Patreon of reaching 15 patrons! This will help me put together a witchy giveaway this holiday season, and I’m really excited to do so. Right now, until 10/17 every new patron will receive a handwritten thank you card in the mail! Please don’t miss this opportunity, and thanks for your support!
