I don't think it's right to try to be critical of HP when you're not a trans woman. And besides, the shit is so unredeemable, you can't look past the issues or be critical of them when they are dead in your face.
I’m not even being critical of HP. Everything I like about the series is built on what the fandom has created over the years. So canon is basically dead to me.
To me, HP is where the author’s intent bleed through rather blatantly in the text (her treatment of elves aka slaves, the whole allusion of the bank Goblins being metaphor for JK’s view of Jewish people, characters of colors are treated as jokes or replaceable and LGBT+ characters are non-existent,etc…) so I’m not even saying to separate the art and the artist in this case.
I still like certain characters and what they could have been but I don’t and won’t deny that her protagonists represent her prejudice.
Sorry if I reblog something that make me look like I’m saying HP itself is somehow separate of JK’s ideologies.
