Acts 1:4-8
After Jesus had risen from the grave, the disciples were ready to go to war. They asked Jesus,
"Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?"
aka, "Jesus, is it finally time to deal with Rome, our oppressors?"
They were ready. They and just witnessed their friend/mentor/messiah ridiculed, betrayed, beaten, tortured, and murdered even though he was innocent. And now, Jesus was back. They were ready to show everyone that they messed with the wrong one.
They were hurt. They were angry. They were probably tired of being hurt and angry. They had spent 3 years following Jesus because they wanted to see the promise of God fulfilled. But it wasn't fulfilled the way they thought it would be.
Jesus responds with,
"The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
aka "You're not even gonna know when it's time nor is it any of your business to know. What you are gonna do is WAIT until I GIVE you the power to move forward."
All throughout the Bible, we see people respond to problems with their own strength and LOSING.
Doing things on our own isn't sustainable, it brings confusion, and it's reactionary (fight or flight responses) especially, if we are trying to fight against EVIL.
But we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us.
Don't go to the protests, don't leave your house, don't even post on social media without taking Jesus with you. Because time and time again, your own strength, your emotions, your words, and your knowledge, will fail you and it's the Love of God that changes hearts, brings peace, and understanding.
Luke 13:1-5
Jesus and Co. just learned that Pilate had murdered a bunch of people in Galilee, their hometown. When asked how he felt about this, Jesus responds with
"Do you think those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other people from Galilee? Is that why they suffered? Not at all. And you will perish too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God."
Basically, Are you upset because they were in worse standing with God than you and thus, suffered and perished. No. You only truly perish if you leave this life without repenting and turning to God.
Basically, basically, our friends and family have been brutally and sensless murdered in cold blood. But you and I know that they were in good standing with God and so, they're gucci.
Jesus always saw the big picture and never lost sight of His true goal, which was to save the SOULS of people.
If you're a Christian, and you are going out there today, be safe, be alert, but don't go in your own strength. And when you get out there, minister the Love of God. Because that's the only thing that will change hardened hearts.
People forget that Martin Luther King Jr. was a Reverend. His Civil Rights campaign wasn't successful because he protested "the right way". He was successful because God blessed him. And if God is for you, who can stand against?

This is...a tough question because I don't think so, but others might perceive my faith as such. But beyond that, I do have a relationship with God and I try to observe Jesus' teachings. Key word being try.
