“Alright, well, I’ll see you later Space Cadet,” Britt said as she walked away from you. You rolled your eyes at the nickname and walked over to where Kris and Orange Cassidy were talking about something. Kris pulled you into her side and kept her arm around you, making you feel like you were a part of what was happening even though you were just staring at her like she was your whole universe. “I’m sorry, but I can’t do this anymore.” 

Those were the last words that Kris had said to you before she left. Things had been good for the two of you back then. She’d been gaining traction, enough to be looked at by AEW, and you were finally happy with the WWE. Everything had been great and then out of nowhere, it came crashing down around you. You and Kris began to drift apart, you got injured, she broke up with you, and your contract was bought out. 

You healed up and then bounced around between AEW and Impact for a couple months. You took a three month break, blew through the last of your money, and then signed with AEW. You did smaller shows for them and then made your way up to their main show. You were back on television and it was great, except for your first televised match was Kris Statlander’s comeback match. 

“Is there a reason you look like a kicked puppy?” Penelope Ford asked you. You looked around to make sure that nobody was listening in and then you sighed. 

“I’m about to have a match with the woman who broke my heart and I don’t know how I feel about it,” you said and Penelope shrugged. “I’m happy to get to be around her again, but at the same time I’m angry with her. I’m sad that she left me, but I understand why. I didn’t take the time for her when I should have and now I’m too late.” 

“You still love her,” Penelope said. 

“Of course I do. She was the love of my life,” you said and Penelope cleared her throat. You looked up from the hem of your shirt that you’d been playing with to see Kris standing behind Penelope. “You play dirty Ford.” 

“You left me no choice Y/l/n,” Penelope said as she left you to talk with Kris.

When you were finished, the two of you met up backstage and she didn’t leave your side until she dropped you off at your place. “You can come up if you want.” 

“As great as that sounds, I want to take things slow,” Kris told you. “But, um, we could totally make out a little bit.”
