#Repost from artist Katerina Belkina @thebelki ・・・ I’m thinking of a couple more still-lifes where I would like to use that technique when a human figure is partially included in the classical still-life, but the composition of the objects takes the main role. It’s like "invisible" presence. @anne.avramut is writing in her essay “A Genre-Transcending Journey”: “Belkina doesn’t exclusively work here in reference to Dutch paintings in “Repast”, but also draws on an image element coined by Leonardo da Vinci: in contrast to canonical still lifes, that exclusively depict lifeless objects and perishables, and where the only human reference is made with skulls, Belkina adds a human element in the form of hand depictions… With this auxiliary appendage of human presence Belkina creates a contemporary form of the vanitas picture where the source of ethics is not solely a divine one but also intrinsically human.” The entire essay can be read in my book, and the book can still be purchased ➡️ @shift.books (former Kocmoc) Намечаю еще пару натюрмортов, где частично будет присутствовать фигура. Нравится использовать этот приём, когда в классический натюрморт вписана человеческая фигура, только частично, но при этом сама композиция из предметов остается заглавной. Получается такое “незаметное” присутствие. Аннэ Аврамут в своём эссе “Путешествие за границу жанра“ для нашей книги пишет:
“Белкина в триптихе “Repast” отдает дань не только нидерландской живописи, она использует мотив, интересовавший Леонардо да Винчи.
