I very much love Kuromaku's complete lack of romantic awareness.

Zontik will spend weeks working up the courage to eventually ask Kuromaku if they can maybe take a bath together, and Kuromaku coldly answers "Why would we bathe together? For starters, the tub is not large enough to allow us both to get in while respecting personal space. On top of that, neither will be able to bathe efficiently when we are in each other's way. And finally, twice the number of people means twice the amount of pollution in the water, which is filthy and defeats the purpose of bathing," and have no idea why Zontik would even ask.

Zontik cries himself to sleep that evening.
