Weekends in the Weasley household were like any other day in the Weasley household: wild and messy and loud. Molly perhaps in the kitchen with three pots on the stove and both ovens on and a pair of knitting needles hovering over the table while the broom dances around her heels; Arthur perhaps in his workshop tinkering with something that’s smelly or explodes or occasionally sends out a shrieking siren for at least an hour; a game of Quidditch permanently going in the garden; boys of all sizes trampling up and down stairs shouting and laughing and sometimes on fire and other times whispering secret messages. The Weasleys were a loud sort of people, with the same friends they’ve had since they were toddlers and no need to travel for adventure when they could make one in their own backyard.
(Hermione found that despite having no desire whatsoever to shout or run or play Quidditch in the yard, that she much preferred a quiet weekend at the Weasley residence than the deafening stillness of the Granger’s neat and orderly little world. But then, it wasn’t a lesson she learned all at once.)

Elena always knew what Bonnie was going to say before she said it and Bonnie always knew what Elena was thinking even if she said nothing at all and Caroline always knew what was worrying them but never said anything and Elena always knew what Caroline was feeling insecure about that at that moment and Bonnie always knew what Elena didn’t want to talk about and they all just knew all the things that the other didn’t want to say out loud.

Her ink container tipped over and spilled all over the five-inch essay due in the morning, obscuring everything in the middle (everything that mattered). One loose robe sleeve and she’d have to start all over.

“Oh heavens,” a soft voice cooed above her head and the parchment was swept away by a thin hand.
Pansy watched with narrowed eyes as Luna murmured something under her breath at the parchment. When she handed it back, the ink stain was gone. (And her handwriting was clearer than ever.)

There are girls, hundreds and dozens of girls, that fill up the Court and simper around her, longing for her crown and her throne and her Power and not understanding any of it, crowds of them working together and fighting each other and never ever knowing how much better it is to be part of a herd. To know that when you turn around, there is someone there, right there at your elbow, that knows something fundamental about you. A mirror of your desires and needs and limitations wandering around outside of yourself; proving … something indefinable, intangible, something that for a Queen was always out of reach.

Jenny walked deeper into the kitchen, keeping an eye on the hallway leading to the bedrooms and said as loud as she dared, “Come home!”
“DAMNIT JEN I CAN’T HEAR SHIT I’M COMING HOME THERE’S NOTHING HERE.” Something scraped across the mouthpiece of the phone, or else the wind was just that bad out there. “I LOVE YOU BUT I FUCKING HATE YOUR MAGICK GUY THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IN A ROW HE’S SCREWED US.”
The line went dead and Jenny unwound herself from the black cord before putting the receiver back on the hook attached to the wall in the hallway.
