Why did you choose your capstone?
I am creating a video guide for animators to show how communicative techniques in theatre can be appropriated into animation. I've always been interested in character design and wanted to use this as an opportunity to explore character design in animation. Animation and theatre are closely connected through their similar fundamentals such as audience perception, form through technical construction, language and theory.
Western theatre has existed since 350 B.C., and because of that certain communicative techniques have emerged and create a visual language that speaks to audiences. By better understanding those techniques, one can become a more nuanced and understanding animator.
