Kyungsoo pulled out his phone and began typing quickly, a solemn expression on his face.
'It's been a while since you've been here, and so I'm worried. But all I can do is wait here until you get back. I hope you come back soon… Things happened and… let’s just say I’m not feeling the best right now. But I hope you’re doing okay… You’re doing okay, right? I’ll wait for you at your place. When you get back, I’ll cook you something delicious, okay? Lots of love, Kyungsoo.’
Hitting the send button, he returned to their shared bed, curling up amongst the sheets with his phone clutched in his hands.
It's been... Too long. Being away for any reason is awful, but being away for something so stupid... It's even worse. I told them that the business is only mine in name, that I didn't know about running a business, or care that much about what they did. But they insisted.
It's my family's legacy, they said. But that legacy died, and I left it in the hands of people I could trust. Apparently, that wasn't enough. Nearly a month away from the person I love most in the world, without time to breathe, let alone thing. Trapped in building after building, with no green, no color at all. Just grey and black business suits, grey and black walls. Maybe white, just to keep it interesting.
When I finally slide my key into the door, punching in the security code, my phone buzzes. I look down, and almost fall apart. Suddenly I can't get into the loft fast enough, but my hands won't stop shaking. I don't even slip out of my shoes. Just up the stairs, through the bedroom door, and onto the bed. I pull you into my arms, clutching you tight and willing myself to be still. "I'm back. I'm so sorry. I'm so, so sorry. My little dove... My sweet little boy."
