IT'S REAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL🥳🙌🥂🎆🎉💖
"as long as noone is actually getting hurt" BUT HE...HE GOT HIMSELF HURT...we know he doesn't value himself that much but I value that purble boy and he should stop getting those concussions! even for clues! ouma...
It’s kind of sad to go back through ndrv3 noting how muchOuma really doesn’t care whether he gets himself hurt or not.
Early on, he definitely wants to stay alive if possible—he talksseveral times in the trials very strongly about how he doesn’t want to die. Hishatred for killing and death in general seems to suggest that deep down, hemight actually have been afraid of such things.
Death is, after all, the ultimate “end.” There’s nothing pastit. The reason why I think he finds death so “boring” is because there areliterally no possibilities beyond it. Things stay fun and interesting as longas people are alive. People overcome and improve and accomplish things. Butonce they’re dead, they stay dead (at least, as far as the ndrv3 characters know, and assuming there won’t be some VR twist in any sequels).
That thought is terrifying because it implies the end of allpotential possibilities, and Ouma absolutely lives for “gentle lies” with “infinitepotential.” Death is a truth you can’t avoid.
His not wanting to die sadly doesn’t extend to him takingcare of himself. From what we can judge, he basically runs around the wholegame on no sleep at all running several investigations all at once, even givinghimself a concussion if need be as long as it’s for the sake of finding cluesand pushing Saihara and the others towards the truth.
If his last FTE with Saihara is anything to go off of, Ouma’sreally not above getting himself hurt if it means other people don’t have to.He nicks himself pretty badly with the knife in his last FTE so that Saihara “doesn’thave to play the game,” and even though it’s a bad enough cut that he has to bebandaged up, he just sits there and laughs while Saihara patches him up—becauseit means Saihara is thinking about him and worried about him, so he’s satisfied.
Even the fact that he gets himself choked by Maki multipletimes is pretty indicative of the kinds of situations he’s willing to puthimself in if it’s for the sake of the group’s safety. Exposing Maki’s talentwas something he absolutely felt was necessary in order to even the playingfield and to make sure she couldn’t just hide as an assassin among them.
But rather than provoking her to choke or hurt anyone else,he made sure he was the one provoking her the first time, and he was the onewho got choked and almost killed. She almost killed him again too when he cameto drop off the hammers that were necessary for their survival in Chapter 5.Clearly even though he’s very, very careful in his plans, he takes huge riskswhen it comes to his own safety and well-being.
It’s sad and it’s frustrating because I want him to take better care of himself, but it’s an impossibility. Not only does Ouma pretty genuinely think he’s the kind of person who justdoesn’t need anyone looking out for him or worrying over him, but he’s alsojust infuriatingly incapable of actually acceptinganyone’s help.
Basically Ouma needs to: 1.) stop getting himself beaten upor choked or cut, 2.) stop giving himself concussions for the sake of aninvestigation, and 3.) stop living on a schedule of no sleep and nothing to eator drink except Panta.
Riki and Kyousuke start dating and, on the van drive back (because of COURSE it happens immediately after the fandisc scene), Kyousuke leans in and is like. "Haha, you're never getting rid of me. Because now, I have so many more options for finding ways for us to have fun..."
And Riki, who at this point sort of has technically in fact been in multiple relationships, blushes a little at the thought. "Y-yeah..." he murmurs into the dashboard (boyfriend gets shotgun, of course). "I guess you do..."
A beat later, Kyousuke almost drives the van into a telephone pole. Because this fuckin long-time pining 'I just want my beloved to be happy :)' virgin had actually just. Been talking about dates and couple's discounts and stuff.
Riki/Kyousuke is such a weird ship to write because it like. Honest to god already is basically canon, and already got the best getting-together story anybody could ever write. Literally you could just insert a kiss onto the drama cd conversation and that's it. It's done. That is the canon version of KyouRiki right then and there.
Just for completion's sake, here's what happens if you choose the 'Admit it' option <3
(Riki, you brought this on your fucking SELF bringing up your crush's SISTER when he's telling you you're cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
