It’s the smell that has him transfixed and in a daze, his golden orbs barely registering the sights he passes by while on his little quest. It smells nice and sweet, like honey and spring time and all the little things he likes to eat. With a soft purr that rumbles from the back of his throat, he crosses the busy street, small hands grasping onto the straps of his pink back pack as he walks around, so much shorter, smaller than the other people around him. Then again, Lu has always been tinier than the norm, but he had grown used to that since he was young and mostly the same height he was now.
Inhaling the sweet scent once more, the hybrid stepped around a passerby and met-- well, smacked into sounds more accurate- someone’s back, the perfume like fumes making his nose twitch and a small meow bubbling from his mouth before he could stop it.
“I- sorry!” He exclaimed quickly, taking a few steps back to give the other space.

It’s gone, poof, vanished, not exactly where it should be. The hybrid had searched through his backpack at least several times since leaving his workplace and each time he came up empty handed. The only thing keeping the dam on his tears from breaking was the internal optimism pushing him forward to go out and find what he’d lost. Still, he stood in his place on the sidewalk and peered down at his feet, hiccuping softly as liquid brimmed in his eyes and threatened to spill over and down his plump cheeks. What if he never found his stuffed duck Olivia again?
What if she was hurt or in danger or had gotten dirty? It hurt to think that something he treasured so much would never be brought back to him again.
