Custom Burgers by Pat La Frieda, NYC
Flew out of Laguardia today instead of JFK, which meant no Shake Shack, unfortunately.
But after I got through security, I found Custom Burgers by Pat La Frieda...
The La Friedas supply beef to all the best burger joints, so this looked extremely promising!
However, as you can see, there were no people working here and you have to order through these very difficult to navigate iPads. Then, once you place your order and get a ticket, you have to go to a completely different area to pay And after you do that, you go back to Custom Burgers and wait till a woman magically appears from the back with your order. Confusing, cold and uninviting, to say the least.
But at least the food was good...
The fries were excellent actually! Very surprised.
The cheeseburger was cooked perfectly, the bun was soft, and vegetables were fresh and crisp...
I only wish the meat had had a little more seasoning. I found myself adding extra ketchup and pepper to beat back some blandness.
The one thing I didn't like? The price.
That burger, those fries and a bottle of water set me back $17.90!!
Ouch.
